Ford Ranger Cup Final - Tasmania vs Victoria at Bellerive Oval
The final of the Ford Ranger Cup is well underway with Tasmania hosting Victoria at Bellerive Oval in Hobart.
Victoria won the toss and chose to bat first. Things didn't go well for them and Tasmania bowled them out for 158 in the 38th over. David Hussey continued his good form with the bat, making 50 and Andrew McDonald scored 35 but that was it for the Victorians as the rest were bundled out pretty cheaply. Only Rob Quiney and Clint McKay were the only other batters to score double figures. Ben Hilfenhaus and Brett Geeves destroyed the Victorian batters early and both finished with three wickets. Xavier Doherty was the main destroyer though, cleaning up the middle order and the tail to finish with 4/18 off 6.3 overs.
In reply, Tasmania are 2/41 in the 8th over and we are currently off for a rain delay. Dane Anderson has the top score with 25 but was to Clint McKay. Dirk Nannes has the other wicket which was Tim Paine for six.
We need 20 overs for a game so there's still a long way to go yet. Tassie are currently ahead by nine runs using the Duckworth/Lewis system and they'll look to stay ahead for the remainder of the game. A "No result" will result in a Tasmanian win as they finished on top of the ladder at the end of the home and away season. The team that finishes on top of the ladder earns the right to host the final, hence why the game is at Bellerive.
Tassie in the box seat at the moment.
