Ford Ranger Cup Final - Victoria vs Queensland at Melbourne Cricket Ground

Well, the Ford Ranger Cup comes down to this. Queensland smashed Victoria the last time they played, winning by 135 runs as the Vics were bowled out embarassingly for less than 100 runs. However, Queensland had a chance to earn themselves the right to host the final but couldn't beat a lowly South Australia at the Adelaide Oval, gifting Victoria the final as the Vics had won one more match during the course of the season.

So Victoria host the final but go into the game without one of their best bowlers, Dirk Nannes and Shane Harwood, the leading wicket-taker for the comp has an injury cloud with his pectoral muscles giving him some trouble. But, Victoria will gain the services of Cameron White and David Hussey who have been playing one-day cricket for Australia for the past month.

Queensland have their own problems too with Andrew Symonds looking uncertain at this point with a right knee problem sustained in the Sheffield Shield match against the Redbacks. James Hopes returns from Australian duties and Ashley Noffke got through the one-day game against South Australia without any problems.

This promises to be a super match, both teams finished on 30 points for the year so with some luck this will be an even contest. Victoria have possibly been the slightly better side all year but Queensland have been the dark horse and had won their last five games before collapsing against SA. Victoria have lost their last two one-day finals and will be desperate to make amends here with a win. Hopefully we see a great final.

Victoria XIII: *Cameron White, +Adam Crosthwaite, Aaron Finch, Shane Harwood, John Hastings, Brad Hodge, Jon Holland, David Hussey, Clinton McKay, Darren Pattinson, Robert Quiney, Chris Rogers, Damien Wright (two to be omitted)

Queensland XIII: *Chris Simpson, Glen Batticciotto, Ryan Broad, Lee Carseldine, +Chris Hartley, James Hopes, Ben Laughlin, Ashley Noffke, Clinton Perren, Nathan Reardon, Nathan Rimmington, Chris Swan, Andrew Symonds (two to be omitted)

Should be a good game.

I've got me money on the Vics.

Re: Ford Ranger Cup Final - Victoria vs Queensland at Melbourne Cricket Ground

QLD XI: Broad, Hopes, Carseldine, Symonds, Reardon, Batticciotto, Hartley, Simpson, Rimmington, Swan, Laughlin.

VIC XI: Rogers, Quiney, Hodge, Hussey, White, Finch, Crosthwaite, Wright, McKay, Harwood, Holland.

Queensland win toss and chose to bat.

2/24 from 9.3 overs.

Harwood got both Broad and Hopes early, Symonds and Carseldine currently occupy the crease.

Re: Ford Ranger Cup Final - Victoria vs Queensland at Melbourne Cricket Ground

QLD 4/28 from 11.2 overs

Symonds 2 from 19
Batticciotto 0 from 2

Carseldine run out and Reardon caught at first slip for four off the bowling of Wright.

Who knows, Symonds may actually make some runs and come through for the Bulls.

Re: Ford Ranger Cup Final - Victoria vs Queensland at Melbourne Cricket Ground

Good start by the Vics, top bowling, wicket looks to be in favour of the quicks at the moment.

Re: Ford Ranger Cup Final - Victoria vs Queensland at Melbourne Cricket Ground

Roy - chocked, looking good and then played a shocker in the context of the game.

Re: Ford Ranger Cup Final - Victoria vs Queensland at Melbourne Cricket Ground

Symo hits Queensland's hopes of winning the trophy straight to Brad Hodge at mid on.

5/56 now, Wright has 2/13.

Batticciotto is 6 n.o and Hartley comes in at the other end.

Re: Ford Ranger Cup Final - Victoria vs Queensland at Melbourne Cricket Ground

Queensland in huge trouble.

Re: Ford Ranger Cup Final - Victoria vs Queensland at Melbourne Cricket Ground

Rogers, Quiney, Hodge, Hussey, White, Finch, Crosthwaite.

With that batting line-up Queensland would be stuggling even if they had made 200/250.

Good effort from young Batticciotto and Hartley has been good also. Hopefully they can score a fair few from the last four overs.

Re: Ford Ranger Cup Final - Victoria vs Queensland at Melbourne Cricket Ground

Queensland end up making 8/187 from their 50.

Hartley made 49 not out and Swan chipped in with a run a ball 30.

McKay and Harwood both may not bat, coming off the ground with injuries.

Just puting updates from the cricinfo site on here.

Re: Ford Ranger Cup Final - Victoria vs Queensland at Melbourne Cricket Ground

Quiney (who has scored 40 of the 45 runs) get cleaned bowled by Swan but it's a no ball.

Re: Ford Ranger Cup Final - Victoria vs Queensland at Melbourne Cricket Ground

Rogers fell early and now Hodge is out LBW to Swan who has both wickets.

2/72 from 17 overs. Should be easy from here for Victoria.

Re: Ford Ranger Cup Final - Victoria vs Queensland at Melbourne Cricket Ground

Quiney drives but it's on the up and straight to Symonds at short cover. Big wicket for Queensland and Rimmington strikes in his first over.

Quiney gone for 52 and Victoria are 3/84. Cam White is in.

Re: Ford Ranger Cup Final - Victoria vs Queensland at Melbourne Cricket Ground

Hussey run out

4/89 now, needing 99 from 161 balls.

White still at the crease and finch in now.

Re: Ford Ranger Cup Final - Victoria vs Queensland at Melbourne Cricket Ground

Oh ohh. Hussey run out. Not good for the Vics. Still favourites, but Qld back in it.

Re: Ford Ranger Cup Final - Victoria vs Queensland at Melbourne Cricket Ground

Dear oh dear, David Hussey run out for eight.

4/90 from 24 overs. Aaron Finch is the new man in.

Re: Ford Ranger Cup Final - Victoria vs Queensland at Melbourne Cricket Ground

Oh god... Finch out...

Don't let us choke. Crosthwaite must perform.
