as u know im a grovedale player and the only players are gettin paid at grovey is barry tsitas but i cant say how much cause i would get in shit and the other bloke will be on coin but not much would be pearce, gary kelson isnt gettin paid cause he loves the club and with mick kelson and aaron muncey they just came back to there club to play with there old teams mates which as u know mick and aaron where ex grovey juniors@|

You cannot say because you do not know!
Don't pretend you know something you do not!

Re: Geelong Cricket '08/'09(gca/bpca)

yeah not sure what Benci is on about in regards to no one knowing his dad ?? Maybe a slip on the keyboard. Maybe at under 12 rep teams it was all about that, but don't think any of the country week or u 25 teams would have to do with that. Only one I could see that affect would be Anderton and he is one of the top bowlers in vic country when he is on fire.

I wish, if i got paid i would use it to buy some decent umpires for the GCA....

By the way under 25 side a great idea. Andy Hughes is a decent bat, made a few runs last year.

Re: Geelong Cricket '08/'09(gca/bpca)

Yeah, i reckon

1. South Barwon
2. West
3. East
4. Grovedale
5. St Josephs
6. Newcombe

But City will be the dark horse

well i was gunna say anderton might be u25 but i think his zanoni's age so that rules that out.

Think ando's 25 atm, trapped in a 35 yr old mans body.
But would be a pretty handy bowler in any team.
Could probably hold his own in the drink off with Babbs for the first half hour too

Second XI At Best;228007 said:
East Belmont
South Barwon
St Joeys
Geelong West
Grovedale
Lara

St Josephs and West will be the interesting ones to watch i think.
St Josephs look to have lost 3 of the better bats in the comp in Loftus, Foster and Lowery. As well as Bowlers Lowery, Lowery and Loftus. Morgan and Fanning will have to put some big numbers up.
West have gained big with Loftus and Chappelle. Will definitely have the ability to make big scores. Shane Arthur and the Spence boys will have a bit more freedom to play their natural games.
I think unless Lara can pick up new players they will struggle to repeat what they did last year.

haha very funny im a 2nds player and i know how much he is gettin, it is a 5 figure sum

Get off it. Tstias is not worth that much, and Grovedale would not and are not paying that.

Re: Geelong Cricket '08/'09(gca/bpca)

I still think Leopold who have added Harvey Stephenson and Skorobolak will be there abouts again. Possiblity that Tony Brown might be back also which will be that huge bonus and enough to put them into the top 6. Not sure how Stowy will go again with his knees.

Skrobalak bowls pies. He's had one good year in GCA.

yea his not that great, is good on bowler friendly wickets but after round 5-6 he becomes easy pickings for the good batsmen.

still a regular first XI player who will partner left haned zanoni at memorial park

how old are u lucas? and im sure you'd play even thou no-one knows your dad
seems you've been around for a while haha :D
blair allen would be a walk up start in the u25s but he is rumoured to be leaving geelong cricket to play elsewhere, thats why i didnt put him in originally :)
Andy hughes is an ok good bat, bottom hand specialist.
Fabris and schaller i have not seen but have only heard good things about schaller from BPCA people, shanebourne are they any good?
I know schaller is only young however.

Re: Geelong Cricket '08/'09(gca/bpca)

He'll go ok, but can't see him being the missing piece of the jig saw for Leopold.

Re: Geelong Cricket '08/'09(gca/bpca)

I think he will improve them though, not a world beater, but need to remember they were only one win off the grand final last season. Or do people think they over achieved ?

Re: Geelong Cricket '08/'09(gca/bpca)

He's got a bit of mongrel in him too, give them a bit of grunt which they may have lacked last year.

Id have to agree- i think they are a competitive and decent team, and will continue to be in future. I just dont think they will ever set the comp on fire, or have quite enough to go all the way.
Having said that- not many expected heaps out of south barwon last year and they fared pretty well.
Guess thats what makes cricket good.

Re: Geelong Cricket '08/'09(gca/bpca)

clearances normally open on the 1st August but as a new computer system is going in with cricket victoria the gca have said clearances will need to wait until that goes in which is supposed to be around that time. so rightarmexpress will need to wait a few more days. Hey is rightarmexpress related to rightarmedmedium ?

Yeh west have potential to post massive scores this year. if theyre bowling can back it up, on paper they could well go all the way. But not too sure about their bowling.
Still think east will be the benchmark.

Re: Geelong Cricket '08/'09(gca/bpca)

well i have to tell the truth cause grovedale dosnt talk bullshit and make up rumors like other clubs in the GCA and on this website

if you were actually that much in the know mate you would realise that you blubbering your mouth about confidential stuff isn't what is best for your club.

Re: Geelong Cricket '08/'09(gca/bpca)

Div 1:

Sth Barwon
Grovedale
East Belmont
Geelong West
Leopold

Pretty sure it will only be a Top 5 this season.
