Golden Pairs

Not sure how many of you read the Cricinfo magazine but the have a feature called golden pairs, where the idea is that you can pick any 2 batsman to face any 2 bowlers in a fantasy battle. There are no restrictions expect for the laws of cricket.

Personally, I would like to see Bradman against Warne, Lara against Holding\Garner, Bradman against Wasim and about a million others. The list is pretty much endless - how would the likes of Grace fair against Kumble or Trueman against Tendulkar?

Who would you like to see go at it in a golden pair?

I haven't got much time at the moment but if you can try to give a bit more detail - I'll fill in some more tomorrow.

Re: Golden Pairs

No they just do the analysis of the two players.

I would like to see Ajit Agarkar bowl against Viv Richards

Re: Golden Pairs

A good one I've seen is the top-handed Gavaskar and bottom-handed Tendulkar against the steepling bounce of Thomson, and Murali's doosra.

That would be a cracking contest, you have two very different batting types facing a master of spin and all out pace.

Re: Golden Pairs

Chris Martin and Monty Panesar against Jeff Thomson and Fred Trueman. Now that'd be a good watch :p.

Kevin Pietersen and Viv Richards against Shane Warne and Geoff Thomson would be a fantastic battle aswell. 2 aggressive batsmen against 2 aggressive and attacking bowlers. I know we've seen Pietersen vs Warne, but Pietersen vs Thomson would be a great battle of personalities and arrogance. Would love to see that.

That's not fair. You know that Sir Viv wouldn't stand a chance against Agarkar. :p

I'd like to see Sunil Gavaskar bat against the likes of McGrath, Wasim and Waqar. He was very successful against the West Indian attack of the 70's and 80's so there is a good chance he would have had the same success, if not more, in the 90's.
