Right, Pakistan is offcially eliminated. There's no way they can make it through to the Super 8's.

Ireland still have to sit back and hope that Zimbabwe doesn't get a similar win against either West Indies or Pakistan. So long as Zimbabwe lose, the Irish are in the Super Eights!

Guru: The Pakistanis are out, but I think the commentators are a bit premature in saying Ireland are definitely through. IF Zimbabwe beat both Pakistan and West Indies, and West Indies beats Ireland, Zim and the Windies will go through. BUT their chances of going through are very good!

Zimbabwe doesn't need to beat both Pakistan and the West Indies. They just need to win one of those games, and then they'd be tied with Ireland on 3 points each, and we'd have to look at NRR then.

Yep. But if they beat both, and Ireland lose to Windies, it is definitely Zim going through. But that's really not going to happen.

My My My the Irish did it!! and what a day to do in on St. Pattys Day. The Leprachauns are rejoicing!!. I know Flannagan's (an irish pub in Bermuda) is rocking today

This is a huge result for Ireland - if I were on their board, i would already be talking to Pakistan about the prospect of a tour to give Pakistan the opportunity of a re-match. Aside from the great effort by the players, they have now opened up a great opportunity for their board to get more games and hence more cash to develop their game.

Notre Dame Football is really the only USA sport I follow. I was so pumped to see Ireland do well in the World Cup. I followed this one the whole day and what a game. ST. Patty's day and Ireland pull off a huge upset.. I can only hope that there is a way to order an Ireland ODI shirt...
