Haddin - do you rate him as a keeper?

Re: Haddin - do you rate him as a keeper?

Trouble is there is nobody even close to him, Ronchi aint a great keeper and his batting is inconsistent and atm terribly out of form and the young keepers who are much better with the gloves are not making runs or being overlooked by their states

Exactly and until their is there shall be no calls for Haddin's head.

Re: Haddin - do you rate him as a keeper?

Haddin really was a better keeper then gilly but gillys batting abilities kept him in the squad with ease so haddin worked more on his batting while he improved that his keeping slipped its only a matter of time before his keeping becomes very good again and Aussies cant afford to keep swaping between him and ronchi they need to choose

Re: Haddin - do you rate him as a keeper?

His keeping drives me insane. It's a mixture of laziness and being not being
athletic enough. Some of the byes he lets through are woeful.

Re: Haddin - do you rate him as a keeper?

Question: Would you rather a keeper who can average 45 at test level and is a decent keeper or an excellent keeper who will average only 20?

I'd rather Haddin any day of the week.

yeh i agree

Re: Haddin - do you rate him as a keeper?

I know I'm in the minority but I'd rather a perfect keeper that bats 11 than one that averages 40+ but misses 2-3 chances a game (The Darren Berry philosophy). That's hypothetical obviously, I think Haddin can be both a gun bat and keeper in the future.

Me too.

Those 25 extra runs are precious and untl Haddin lats through 25 byes an innings then there is no sense in wanting to replace him.

I think his bye average is almost that now:D But seriously i would rather a keeper who can keep. To me a keepers role goes keeper 1st batsmen 2nd not vice versa.

Re: Haddin - do you rate him as a keeper?

Despite letting those byes, a couple of mishaps, he ain't Gilchrist but he suits us at this stage, his batting has been good over the summer & his average has boosted up.

Keep it up Haddin

1 dropped catch an innings could cost alot more than just 25 runs

Although after watching the T20 last night, atleast Haddins spot aint going to be in any jeapordy from his state team mate :p

If Australia had a keeper that was a worse batsman than Lee and johnson then that will be awful.

As for Ronchi, he's probably the least impressive keeper in domestic cricket

Quoting my own post which was validated by Ronchi's terrible effort in the state 20/20

Maybe you would have a better chance if you played for England they go through keepers like tissues.

They even had that old fart once, Paul Nixon I think.

Re: Haddin - do you rate him as a keeper?

Another poor performance in the one dayers today missing a crucial run out, he doesn't even seem to have a go if the throw is hard and rocketed in!

Keeps missing runouts, his footwork is crap, he seems heavy on his feet and very flatfooted like he is rooted in the ground. He doesn't move well at all.
