Help - Bat Recomendations

Hi Guys

Just moved from a big city to small place in the US. Here there are bunch of guys who play cricket but each has to have their kit.
So I have to buy all the equipment now :(. While playing in the club I used to variety of bats, mostly BAS and CA Gold. Personally I like thick handles and light and balanced pickup as I go 6-7 down and have to Slog.

I am in the US. Any recommendations on websites to buy. I tried Ebay for some used equipment. No Luck!

My Budget is between $80 - $120 USD. However cheaper the better...please help me guys with some suggestions I have a game coming up soon....

PS:I was looking at CA 20/20, BDM Ambassador, BAS Vampire ....I am going to buy online so its big risk....first time I am buying a bat without feeling it.

Re: Help - Bat Recomendations

First of all, how old are you and how tall (roughly).

You'll be lucky to get a good bat for $120, but I'll have a look.

Good bat for slogging, I think.

GCC ships overseas, too. But really if you want a good bat then you might need a bit more money. You could by a cheap Kashmire bat, but they aren't too good. See if you can find a low grade english willow (like the one I posted before), you might be able to get one for around 100.

Re: Help - Bat Recomendations

Kingsgrove is a good bet. They have a great range, ship overseas, and it is cheaper if you do buy from overseas (no GST)

You can get a CA Somo for $130 excluding export price. They also knock in for free

Re: Help - Bat Recomendations

I saw Grade 1, bat that the pro's use, for $400. Pretty good value, but Grade 2 for $250. My bat is Grade 1 and was $300

EDIT: Plus you get a Shane 'The Pig' Watson cap. Worth is just for that :p

:eek:hmy: Serious? What brand? Oh you have that custom made GN XXX, yeh? Fully!

Re: Help - Bat Recomendations

Kookaburra Beast, like Sanga and Kat use. It was last years stock so it was with the old school stickers.
I think the reason my GN XXX2 was so cheap because the quality of wood was crap. I mean great middle, but its just cracking up

Try that!!!!! 122$USD and it's Grade 1 English Willow. Comes in harrow and small mens, great buy I reckon! Would cost you 152$ all up, including shipping.

Or the Select version..

For 130$USD.

The prices are in AUD but you can change them up the top to USD, so trust me, they are the prices.

Grade one for that would be around 380$USD.

Re: Help - Bat Recomendations

I ordered the BAS King Hitter....took my gamble....lets see when the bat arrives. had anyone played with this before?

Re: Help - Bat Recomendations

Hey guys

The bat I ordered is from bigbluecricket.com, however no response from them , i tried calling them and emailing them. Has anyone got through them anytime? Any contact info other than the ones on the website would be appreciated.

On a different note maybe we should start a section on stores and experiences. Sorted by geographical area. So that in future everyone knows which stores has the best/worst sales/service experience.

thanks

Re: Help - Bat Recomendations

I know that kingofslaves had a few problems with them but I was led to believe that it was due to him being in Europe rather than the US. Might be worth searching for his thread on them, think it had Reebok in title.

Re: Help - Bat Recomendations

yep i remember that one...... not a good sign if they dont supply or contact to US customers either

Re: Help - Bat Recomendations

BAS Vampire, yeh? A kid at the nets had one, it looked like a beast of a bat! But I don't know how good it played.

Ohhh was that bigbluecricket KOS had problems with? Ohh, this could take a while, lol.

Re: Help - Bat Recomendations

BAS Vampire has a fairly good reputation.
I had seen few good BAS Vampire English willow bat and they were magnificent.
I have purchased a new BAS Vampire Legend-Kashmir Willow.
