How fast is your connection (broadband/dial up)

It's always interesting to see what other people are getting in terms of their internet speeds, so go speedtest.net, take the test and see what you're getting.

To start off mine is as below:



So so, considering the package should give 8mb but I'm using wireless and I know that 6mb should be the max due to distance from the exchange.

I think i shouldn't post my Speeds . They are too slow.
Downloading Speed:30 kbps
Uploading Speed:25kbps.
Bandwidth:UNLIMITED:D

Crap. Thats after 8-9 tests that i managed this download speed :D

Actually the place i live isn't available in their script. So i cannot get the exact speeds.

Neither is mine.. Lahore's server is closest, but once it showed me a download speed of 398 kbps, which is absolutely not possible. ;)

Testing the download speed from a centre located close to your location will give you the maximum speed your connection can achieve, but its not practical. You don't always download from servers located close to you.

This is from my work computer which is why it is ridiculously fast. At home its about 600 for download and about 70 for upload.

It's not like I can use it to download anything fun though - it's just for work use - and SC of course ;)

In all honesty, there is a reason for asking, as it helps to give us an idea of how much media and what sort of image sizes to include/allow.

The place I was based at last year would trump your speed Ed, it was stupidly fast.

We don't have those kind of speeds that Edladd has over here, I have ADSL2 and that's about the best you can get.

I know, it's soooo stupid, we're far behind every other first world nation. But Kevin Rudd to the rescue!

Don't be so sure, in India too ADSL is the best one can get and its not the best in terms of world competition anyways. Internet is ridiculously expensive here. :p



This is what I can manage after paying around a hefty $25 per month, albeit for unlimited bandwidth.

But speedtest.net tests are so irregular, I like www.speakeasy.net/speedtest to do the trick, and this is what I consistently manage there. :D

Last Result:
Download Speed: 422 kbps (52.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 448 kbps (56 KB/sec transfer rate)

India isn't a first world nation though.


I recently upgraded my connection.



I'm pretty happy with the speed.
