How/where to learn about cricket

For people interested in learning more about cricket that have no background, how do you recommend finding out more? Books? TV?

Are you talking of yourself Simon, or is this a generalised question for the masses?

Watching games regularly and talking to somebody experienced in the world of cricket.

For example if you watch a game on TV and have no idea how the LBW law works, it's easier to get a friend to explain it than a book or the internet.

That's where these sorts of forums come into play. I think the best way to go about it is to watch some games and post some questions on this site, depending on your question it will probably be in the Boundary Chat or the General Coaching boards. With the collective knowledge of the people on this site somebody will answer in easy to understand terms and you can also get help with understanding the history of different teams and players and being able to choose teams that you wish to follow a bit more enthusiastically than others.

More than watching, I would recommend finding a few guys and start playing - even in backyards ..... for Cricket you don't need a whole lot of equipment or space ..... a tennis ball and a bat and two guys will do ....

Depending on where you are, there are many local parks with tons of folks playing cricket. If you are in/near NY, Queens parks have ton of folks playing Cricket. Lots of Jamaicans and WI and Indians playing some awesome cricket.
