Improving pick up

Improving pick up

I tried adding half a grip to the upper part of the handle of my bat to improve pick up ie to make it feel lighter for cross batted shots. Would some kind of weight on the upper handle help to counterbalnce the weight of the blade and what would this be. I bought my gm duellist 707 ( wt 2lbs 9oz) and a CA 10000 (wt 2lbs8oz) over the net and would like to lighten pick up to aid/control the strokes better. I am 5"9 and post pubertal

Re: Improving pick up

Lead tape wrapped over with Elastoplast tape I use. Doesn't improve pickup massively but try it anyway, the best way to do it really is to get a batmaker to take weight from the toe area. This will of course reduce weight too.

Re: Improving pick up

As evo says, best way is to get a batmaker to remove some weight but it can also depend on the bat - some bats have more room to manoeuvre than others.

Other than that, lead tape or similar is worth a try. Try a full grip as that can have a reasonable effect.

Re: Improving pick up

can u still buy lead tape? i'm pretty sure it was outlawed for H&S. there must be something similar that will be just as good!
