Two best cricket teams in the world playing meaningless
matches on some third rate ground before maybe 10K
spectators. Two run-of-the-mill NFL teams gonna play
regular season game in 90K stadium. Guess which
sport has high expectations for itself?

i guess this is the result of no spot in NYC to play? no knock against Ireland, but its not really a valid replacement for NYC/Toronto.

I didn't realise India had a contract to play 25 offshore ODI's over 5 years.

That should see at least 1 series a year in non-test match nations.

Hopefully Ireland will be able to arange to play India and/or Australia before the main series.

It would be good if the NFL started a team in mexico.....they got 100,000 to a game in Mexico City.......a couple of years ago

India are playing Scotland on August 16............it would be good if they also played Ireland

They're playing overseas for one, and only one, reason:
the bookies back in India will be asleep when the players try
to call 'em.

I hope it's not too late for the Aussies to schedule a game or two against the home team. They might as well play some decent competition on this trip! :D

Ha! they should play Ireland.

seriously, its only right to play the host country, no? even if its just one match. otherwise i feel that the two (Aus & India in this case) are exploiting the hosts to make some $.

I wouldn't exactly call that "exploitation". After all, Ireland will be making some money off of this without even having to play.

other than the money coming in, which probably won't be too much for Ireland, it really doesn't help irish cricket. players will still look forward to playing test cricket for England.

Looks like Australia is out and South Africa have been drafted in as their replacements

More good news for Ireland. Not only will they get a nice payday, but they might even get an ODI or two:

The Irish Cricket Union won't be too perturbed about which teams turn up; the series will provide lucrative staging rights, and the Ireland team may also provide warm-up opposition for the two sides in further full ODIs.

Doesnt really matter which countries turn up there. It will just be good for Irish cricket

India didn't want to split the payment fee with Aus fifty fifty. Thought they deserved to get a larger cut. Ridiculous.
Good on CA for not cowering and giving in.

Looks like SAf did though.

And now it sounds like this whole series is off, due to arguments between the BCCI and their television partners. This sucks for Ireland!
