Indian cricket and responsibility
It is alleged that India specializes in producing cynics of high caliber and champion wannabes. It is only natural that when the BCCI earmarks Rs 50 crore(US $12 million) for the development of other sports, the sceptics and cynics punch in the clock for a wild party time.

BCCI's Pawar will pay the Indian Olympic Association chief Kalmadi a fat cheque.  The money in BCCI account (if left over from Dalmiya's misappropriation) becomes another FOUR in a Wanderer's ODI match between the Aussies and the hosts.

Indian Cricket is everyone else's envy, and that should put an enormous burden of responsibility to cool things in life, including other sports since it has, though, involuntarily, sucked the blood out of other sports and recreational activities. Disparity in anything including popularity of sports is not an Indian invention, but a global reality that has its
roots in the laws of the jungle. As the society becomes more civilized, the kings of the hills
need to shoulder responsibilty to develop the underprevileged.

Indian tennis has thrown up players who can qualify to play in ATP in every generation — Ramanathan Krishnan, Jaideep Mukherjea, Vijay Amritraj, Ramesh Krishnan, Paes — and now Sanya Mirza. Atwals and Jeev Milka Singhs are making a mark in Golf- but no world dominating competitors. It is this sort of famine of sporting excellence that Indian cricket attempts to help break. And BCCI and it's affilicates are the beneficiary of the drought.

BCCI and the cricket players can start by showcasing the the virtues of sport, through advertisements, seminars, and school workshops to see the benefits of good health and the value of discipline, work ethic, practice and teamwork. It's a culture many could do with.

The Indian cricket must seriously assist gifted youngsters. For a real meaningful execise it must go a step or two further. Sports federations that act as power brokers and take the money as handouts on a begging bowl by producint an imaginary list of deserving athletes who are in reality mired in mediocrity.
It will be a "crime" for Indian cricket to toss a cheque and walk away knowing the status quo does not enhance anything worthwhile.

It has to make sure that the money does not go to undeserving friends and family - talent amd merit must be the only barometer.
BCCI must form a committee of respected, high caliber ex-sportsmen and fans with intellect to disburse the money - a few from RSC and the blogging community will do just fine:)
With a network of specialists to make decisions on who should get how much, the committee must needed supplies - equipment, coaching, ticket to travel.
Every grant of money and matter should go hand in hand with responsibility and accountability.

BCCI needs to act for the betterment of not just cricket - but also the society it immensely  benefits from!
