Intercontinental Cup: Canada v Netherlands

This looks like it should be an interesting match.

Netherlands were all out for 297 in their first innings, and in reply, Canada are 136-5 right now.

Re: Intercontinental Cup: Canada v Netherlands

Canada currently 186-6, so they're in decent shape chasing the score Netherlands put up yesterday. But Bhatti hurt himself batting and had to retire hurt. He bowled the most overs for them yesterday, and Canada will certainly want him to be fit to bowl again against Netherlands tomorrow.

Re: Intercontinental Cup: Canada v Netherlands

Dhaniram finally out for 73

Canada 248-8

They've cut the deficit to less than 50 runs.

Re: Intercontinental Cup: Canada v Netherlands

Great contributions from some of the folks at the bottom of the order here.
Canada have taken the lead!

Canada is 301-8 after 81 overs.

(So unless the ICC has changed the points system since last time, Canada will now gain the 6 points for having a first innings lead.)

Re: Intercontinental Cup: Canada v Netherlands

Canada reached 337, good for a 1st innings lead of 40.

Even better, they got Kervezee (the top scorer for the Dutch on Day 1) out for a duck in the first over.
Netherlands is currently 12-1 as we approach the end of day 2.

Re: Intercontinental Cup: Canada v Netherlands

Oooh, and now a second wicket. de Grooth out too.
Netherlands 12-2.

Netherlands in trouble early here. They still trail by 28 runs.

No sign of Bhatti bowling yet, but it looks like Canada won't need him today at least.

Re: Intercontinental Cup: Canada v Netherlands

End of Day 2, Netherlands 49-3, good for a lead of only 9 runs.

Canada has a very clear advantage in this match now. Despite their troubles against Ireland in the final of the last version of this tournament a month ago, it looks like they've got a good chance to get off to a perfect start in the new tournament.

Re: Intercontinental Cup: Canada v Netherlands

THings are looking good for my boys! Really brilliant batting from the bottom order, after the top didn't hold up their end. Osinde's 50 drew massive applause, and was really truly well-played. Not the usual smash and grab you'd expect from #11.

Bhatti's injury LOOKS gross - the nail on his left thumb is black. But he was padded up and ready to go back in until the first-innings lead was secured. He stayed off the field getting treatment, but is apparently available to play in the field tomorrow.

Weather looks good, and the pitch is firming up, so there could still be some runs left in it for both teams!

Re: Intercontinental Cup: Canada v Netherlands

Borren put up some good resistance today, but he's finally out for 105.

Netherlands currently 211-8, a lead of 171 runs.
Bhatti hasn't bowled, but Canada obviously hasn't really needed him.

If Canada can get the final 2 wickets soon, they'll be chasing a target of under 200 runs.

Re: Intercontinental Cup: Canada v Netherlands

Bhatti did not field at all today, apparently there is a fracture in his thumb, which also puts him in jeopardy for the upcoming ODIs and UAE match. Unfortunately for Canada, they COULDN'T get the last two wickets quickly, and they are chasing 271 to win (with 111 overs to get there). They reached 44 for 2 at stumps, leaving everything to play for for both sides tomorrow! Should be a real cracker on Canada Day.

Re: Intercontinental Cup: Canada v Netherlands

Canada require another 227 runs with 8 wickets remaining

Should be a good chase on the final day.

Re: Intercontinental Cup: Canada v Netherlands

Canada eneded up losing that match.

The current points table after the first 3 matches is:

Team Games Points
Canada 2 26
Netherlands 1 14
UAE 2 3
Scotland 1 3
Bermuda 0 0
Ireland 0 0
Kenya 0 0
Namibia 0 0
