IPL Game 2 - Kings XI Punjab vs Chennai Super Kings at PCA Stadium, Mohali

The second game starts this afternoon or morning or night depending where you are from. The first game was an explosive one with Brendon McCullum stealing the show, making a blistering 158 not out. However, the game tured out to be a fizzer with Kolkata far too good for an inept Bangalore outfit.

Both these teams boast some star players, Kings XI Punjab boasts the bowling power of Brett Lee, Kyle Mills, Irfan Pathan and S Sreesanth while having Yuvraj Singh, Mahela Jayawardene, Kumar Sangakkara, Simon Katich and Ramnaresh Sarwan with the bat.

Chennai aren't to be outdone though, MS Dhoni, Stephen Fleming, Mike Hussey, Jacob Oram and Matthew Hayden are the backbone of their batting card whilst they will expect Muttiah Muralitharan, Makhaya Ntini, Albie Morkel and Joginder Sharma to take wickets.

Kings XI Punjab (from): *Yuvraj Singh, AK Argal, PP Chawla, P Dharmani, R Dhawan, K Goel, JR Hopes, DPMD Jayawardene, SM Katich, U Kaul, SO Kukreja, B Lee, SE Marsh, KD Mills, WA Mota, IK Pathan, LA Pomersbach, RR Powar, N Saini, +KC Sangakkara, RR Sarwan, VRV Singh, S Sohal, S Sreesanth, TM Srivastava

Chennai Super Kings (from): *+MS Dhoni, VV Kadbe, P Amarnath, M Gony, S Anirudha, R Ashwin, S Badrinath, L Balaji, N Einstein, SP Fleming, ML Hayden, MEK Hussey, SB Jakati, Joginder Sharma, AB Karthik, SS Kumar, JA Morkel, A Mukund, M Muralitharan, M Ntini, JDP Oram, +PA Patel, SK Raina, S Vidyut

A lot of players to choose from there so it'll be really competitive at the selection table for spots in each team's eleven. Both teams look pretty even so this is sure to be a cracking game.

Game starts at 7:30pm AWST (5pm local time, 11:30am GMT).

Re: IPL Game 2 - Kings XI Punjab vs Chennai Super Kings at PCA Stadium, Mohali

Another high scoring game saw Chennai Super Kings win comfortably over the Kings XI Punjab. The Super Kings batted first and scored a massive 5/240 off their 20 overs. The bulk of the runs were scored by Michael Hussey who smashed his way to 116 not out off only 54 balls. Suresh Rania scored 32 with S Badrinath producing a late cameo with 31 not out off only 14 balls.

Irfan Pathan was the Kings XI only multiple wicket-taker, with 2/47 from four overs. Brett Lee was the only Kings XI bowler with an economy rate less than 101!

In reply, the Kings Xi tried hard but the total proved too much and they reached 4/207 from their 20 overs. James Hopes top scored with 71 off 33 balls, he was well supported by Kumar Sangakkara who made a nice 54 off 33. Unfortunately for the Punjab side that was their only major scorers which proved to be their downfall.

Gony, Muralitharan, Amarnath and Joginer Sharma took one wicket each for the Super Kings.

A good win for the Super Kings, 33 runs in the end so they'll be happy with that effort. This tournament looks as if it will favour the batters and they seem to have plenty of firepower in their batting line-up.

Man of the Match was Michael Hussey for his blistering century.

just finished watching the game (i'm a few days behind due to a busy schedule). very intense game of cricket. very good to watch actually. Katich batted well at the end, Hussey innings was superb and Hopes was magnificent, Sangakkara batted well too - it was too much for the Kings though, Hussey's innings won it for the Chennai, and they were never going to chase down 240.

good game of cricket though
