Jarred finger?

being a wicket keeper i see it as part of my job, but last night i managed to jar my middle finger from a ball that did not bounce, the impact was directly on it and now its quite sore.

Hurts to bend it and is a bit swollen around the main knuckle. i currently have it strapped to the finger next to it as it seems to hurt less.

whats the best remedy for it?

thanks!

Re: Jarred finger?

Oh dear!

Ice, as soon as possible after the injury, helps hugely in reducing inflammation.

Ice it still; 15 minutes within the hour, no longer.
Take ibuprofen to help reduce inflammation too.

Buddy taping is great. If there is any deformity or lack of feeling or restriction of movement when the inflammation has subsided, go and get it checked for a fracture.

If inflammation does not subside, get it checked.

Hope its better soon :(

Re: Jarred finger?

i know this is bad, but i never iced it. i only strapped it this morning.
ive done it a few time to the same finger and its slightly bent now ::)

i will keep it strapped up, but i do have a 20 20 tomorrow night?

any suggestions for protecting it under the gloves?

Other than wet chamois gloves, there is little you can do. My advice would be not to keep ;)

If you have a little room in your gloves wear a finger support, this should wedge the finger in acting as splints.

Ice it as soon as you can and take the ibuprofen.

well i know you wont agree, but there is no way i'm not keeping! lol

its a cup / tournament!

guess i will strap it up and protect it by using left hand more!
