Mombasa Tri-Series Game 2: Canada v Scotland

The second match of the series goes tomorrow at 0730 GMT. The Canadians arrived just two days ago, and will be playing their first game. The Scots are coming off a truly embarassing loss to Kenya, and will need to bounce back if they are to have any hope of winning the series. Should be an interesting match (leading to me having minimal sleep).

CricketEurope will have the live scorecard again, so tune in there. My prediction: Canada bowl Scotland out for another low score (say, 150) but then struggle to make the target.

I was going to pick Canada to pull off this win, but after that awful first game for Scotland, I think they'll do their best to bounce back and get a win here.

Re: Mombasa Tri-Series Game 2: Canada v Scotland

Canada off to a massive start, 58-1 after just 8 overs.

Re: Mombasa Tri-Series Game 2: Canada v Scotland

Davison out for 41, but Bagai is still going strong on 51.

Canada 106-2 after 15.3, they're still on target for a big score.

Re: Mombasa Tri-Series Game 2: Canada v Scotland

Canada 148-2 after 24.

They've actually slowed down a tiny bit, but their score is still a very good one. Bagai and Qaiser Ali are putting up another good partnership (Bagai is on 63, Qaiser Ali up to 33).

Looks like Scotland's batsmen are going to handed a pretty big task when they get around to batting.

Re: Mombasa Tri-Series Game 2: Canada v Scotland

Canada 209-2 after 34.5

Looks like Canada is well on their way to scoring 300!
The only bad news is that Bagai retired hurt. But Chumney and Qaiser Ali are going along just fine without him.

Re: Mombasa Tri-Series Game 2: Canada v Scotland

Canada finished on 5/292.

Going by Scotland's dismal effort with the bat yesterday that should be enough, especially if the Canadian bowlers play true to form. IMO they are probably the strongest part of Canada's game and, like Odoyo and Ongondo yesterday, could have it all wrapped up with their first spell.

It would be good to see Scotland improve however. I loved yesterday from a Kenyan point of view, but it wasn't a great day for associate cricket in general.

Re: Mombasa Tri-Series Game 2: Canada v Scotland

Scotland 275-7 after 47.

They need 18 from the last 3 overs.

Watson up to 120*

Re: Mombasa Tri-Series Game 2: Canada v Scotland

Scotland 291-7 after 49.2
They need 2 runs from the last 4 deliveries.

Oops, Blain out. Scotland 291-8

Re: Mombasa Tri-Series Game 2: Canada v Scotland

Scotland win it on the last ball. Another tough loss for Canada, whose bowlers were the ones to let them down today. 27 Extras is just ridiculous. Personally, I'm really upset that they dropped Umar Bhatti in favour of the 40-year-old Cummins. That could have been the difference, as Cummins finished with figures of 10-0-58-1. Hopefully we see the Osinde-Bhatti tandem back in force for the next match.

Tough loss for Canada.
I wonder how they'll do against Kenya.

Re: Mombasa Tri-Series Game 2: Canada v Scotland

I completely agree that Canada should have selected Bhatti - definitely cost them.
Great effort from Watson to see Scotland home. I expect the rest of the games to be much closer than the first one, but am backing Kenya home for 2 more wins this weekend. ;)

Re: Mombasa Tri-Series Game 2: Canada v Scotland

I was thinking about it afterwards, and I thought that maybe he was not fit to play. Whether an injury, or just jet lag from the flight. Even if the selctors were hell bent on getting Cummins in to the match (which it seems they were), they would have been much better off with Osinde and Bhatti as the quicks, and leaving out Austin Codrington. So HOPEFULLY this was the case (and hopefully it was just jet lag and nothing more serious). Looking forward to the Kenya match tonight.
