Mombasa Tri-Series Match 5: Scotland v Canada

Hooray, Canada is actually playing!
Off to a good start too.

Canada 24-0 after 3.1 overs

Re: Mombasa Tri-Series Match 5: Scotland v Canada

Canada 38-0 after 6. Davison off to a strong start.

Canada Davison, Samad, Bagai, Qaiser Ali, Chumney, Mulla, Maxwell, Dhaniram, Cummins, Sandher, Osinde

Scotland Watson, Watts, McCallum, Rogers, Poonia, Haq, Blain, Wright, Smith, Hoffmann, Hamilton

Cummins in for Canada again. Missing are Codrington, Codrington, Jyoti, and once again, Bhatti. The first three played in the first match, so obviously Bhatti is the one who was either injured or late to arrive.

Re: Mombasa Tri-Series Match 5: Scotland v Canada

It sounds strange, but I hope the players that have been left out for Canada are not fit to play, rather than just being chosen to be left out.

Davison is out to an absolute flier! 36 from 27 balls, and Canada are 49/0 after 7 overs!!!

Re: Mombasa Tri-Series Match 5: Scotland v Canada

Bit of a collapse here, Canada now 71-3 after 16.

Re: Mombasa Tri-Series Match 5: Scotland v Canada

Canada 126-6 after 30 overs.

Not exactly looking at a huge total here.

Re: Mombasa Tri-Series Match 5: Scotland v Canada

Good partnership from Dhaniram and Maxwell,
Canada is now at 175-6 after 39.1 overs.

A definite improvement for Canada over the score I listed in the previous post.

Re: Mombasa Tri-Series Match 5: Scotland v Canada

Looks like Canada probably won't last 50 overs here.

198-8 after 43.1

Re: Mombasa Tri-Series Match 5: Scotland v Canada

Looks like another cracker of a finish here!

Scotland are 168/7 after 40 overs. They're on pace to get to the target, but Dhaniram just removed Hamilton, leaving just the bowlers left to bat. There's a bit of a conflict between cricinfo and cricketeurope, with one saying 45 runs to win, and the other 41.

With regard to Canada's innings (althought I slept through most of it) it was disappointing to again see such a strong start turn into a sub-par total. Davison is surely a great shotmaker, but he needs to learn when to dial it back a little. Maybe if and when Billcliff returns, he'll provide the foundation the skipper needs; it seems he is just trying to do it all.

Another weak effort from Cummins as well - I hope he is dropped soon if he does not improve. A golden duck with the bat, and going for more than 5 per over with the ball. We have guys who can do better than that.

Re: Mombasa Tri-Series Match 5: Scotland v Canada

Canada 208 (44.3 ov)
Scotland 209/8 (47.2 ov)

Scotland win by 2 wickets

A close match, but in the end Scotland's lower order were able to see it out.
