Money Shield 18/19

Lower might only need 25 overs if a spot in the 4 is at stake.

Make for a very interesting first session if it’s not going to hit 38 until 3pm or so.

Looks pretty hot Friday too though so you’d think it’ll be hot early.

It is like a wash out? Do there need to be a minimum of matches complete?

When in doubt, read the rule book.

Hot Weather (Heatouts)

The General Manager or his nominated representative will monitor the Bureau of Meteorology “Viewbank” temperature by dialling 1196. Once it reaches 38° Celsius, the General Manager or his nominated representative will notify clubs by SMS. Play will then be suspended immediately, and will not start or re-start until the General Manager or his nominated representative notify clubs that it is below 38°. The General Manager or his nominated representative will continue to check at each 15 minute interval on and from the hour (eg 1:00pm, 1:15pm, 1:30pm, etc). If play is delayed for 1 hour in one continuous block of time (not accumulative blocks), all play in all matches will be abandoned for the day. Any delay or interruption under this paragraph will be treated in the normal way in accordance with applicable rules, particularly regarding overs reduction. The Grounds Committee reserves the right to abandon play at any time prior to commencement, due to extreme weather.

Play abandoned or cancelled because of adverse conditions (washouts or heatouts)

On a day when all matches in a grade are One-Day matches and more than 50% of them are abandoned before reaching a result, all play in all matches in that grade is cancelled. Note: The application of this 50% rule in one day matches does not apply in Barclay Shield, Money Shield or Mash Shield. Any results achieved in these grades will stand, regardless of the outcomes of other matches in that grade. If Day 1 of a Two-Day Home and Away match is abandoned before 20 overs are bowled, then all play is cancelled, and it becomes a One-Day match on Day 2. If this occurs in more than 50% of matches in a grade (including Barclay Shield, Money Shield and Mash Shield) on that day, all play in all matches in that grade is cancelled, and they become One-Day matches on Day 2. If play is cancelled under this Rule, it is ignored for points, percentage, averages and votes.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I can’t see anything there that mentions heatouts on day 2 of a two day match

Anyone give Banuyle any chance to chase 258 this week?? I just don’t see where the runs can come from..
Last time they met OP took 1 wicket and they chased 125 with almost half the overs to go so I guess they would be backing themselves knowing they've done it before, but 258 is obviously a much larger target. If Lalor chase it and Banyule lose, they are gonski!

Lalor or Banuyle could miss.....
Could be one of the great chokes I’ve seen in the last 25 years. We’ve already seen OPs with a massive choke. Surely Banuyle couldn’t miss!!

Eltham used 9 bowlers on Saturday and couldn't bowl Mill Park out. They've got the "big 3" but Lower bat to no.10, chasing a big Eltham score won't concern them.

Maybe Eltham just bowled a few guys who don't usually, looks like Mill Park never threatened all day so no point in running your front line bowlers into the ground when it was 37C.

Speaking of guys who don't usually bowl; Congratulations Nick Curtin on his first Money Shield wicket! :) The celebration was on point too.

Fair point didn't consider that. Could be a very high scoring semi either way though!

Hate to say it, but you're spot on. Common sense not bowling anyone 15 overs+ in that heat if you don't need to. Throwing the ball around to guys who wouldn't normally bowl when the game was virtually over was clever thinking.

Highly doubt that their bowling was struggling so much that they had to use the wicketkeeper to bowl. Although taking 2/5 off 4 overs may see him asking for another bowl next week. haha
