oh well i dont think Siddle and Hilf should be there for much longer as they should bring back Lee and Clark straight away and leave them in the wings, they are both young anyway. when we are talking about all these fast bowlers i just cant stop thinking of Dizzy Gillespie, i really want him to come back to cricket, hes only 35. still another couple of years and we need him.

Lee and Clark will have to prove their form to be automatic selections, i dont think they will just walk staright back in.

Re: Nathan Bracken?

i think clark should definitely get straight back in, although its in his best interests to play a couple of warm up games to prove his point. i think lee should also get straight back in, but with all this hype about him not being quick enough he should probably play a couple of games first as a warm up. we need them for the ashes.

yeh i agree we need them for the ashes. but they both will have to prove themselves because i think condidtions will suit hilfy over there and siddle has been bowling very well against south africa

i would have bracken as a specialist bowler before mcdonald.

McDonald has proved he can do just as good a job as Bracken, And he can bat.

As for the Dizzy comment, I lol'd. We are rebuilding, you know when you start playing XXXX Gold beach cricket, you aren't going to be playing test cricket ever, again.

haha yeah. i just miss him, he was one of my favourite bowlers.

i think that lee and clark should be definites, after a few matches they will have shown if they can handle the re-entry or not. if warne or macgrath came back to play cricket i bet the selectors would pick them, so why not someone who is still under contract? it doesnt make any sense to me, they get injured, then they should come straight back into the side when they are fit until they provide a reason to be dropped. unless its like shane watson where they should permanately leave him out of the side because he is so injury prone. or wrap him in bubble wrap. either way.

lees form wasnt the best leading up to his injury and siddle has shown he can handle test match cricket he will be stiff if he gets dropped.

Re: Nathan Bracken?

No one has done anything to be dropped. I agree Lee and Clark should come back, but, I think it will be a bowl off between Clark and Lee for Hilf or McDonalds spot, and sadly I think Lee will lose.

Re: Nathan Bracken?

i think the selectors have made a difficult mess to clean up. lee got the AB medal and 60 wickets in a calendar year, even though half of it he was injured just before he left the squad for injury reasons. he was bowling extremely well, then he went to india and got sick and then injured his foot. i dont think it is fair on him to drop him because he was sick and the rest of the team was having a bad time.

Totally agree there, but as I said before, no one has done anything wrong to get dropped for Lee AND Clark. If McDonald stays in the side, Id like to give Lee a go, Last time he came back from injury he>Clark.

Re: Nathan Bracken?

the selectors do have a mess to clean up and dont get me wrong i am a fan of lee and i would be sad if he doesnt get another go at it, but at this stage im not sure he will for the ashes.

i meant as a specialist bowler, batting aside.

Re: Nathan Bracken?

bracken, and for that case, all of the tailenders of australia arent that bad at batting. they can hang around if required, its only when they start trying silly things, like hilf trying to out bat johnson (thats what it looked like) in the last test.

and why isnt bracken in SA? he shouldve played in the last 20twenty.

i dont blame hilfy for having ago, why should mitch get all the fun lol, it wasnt like we had a snow flakes chance in hell off drawing it and mitch did have his 100 so id be throwing the bat as well, as for bracken, im not sure how important these T/20 games are, i dont think the selectors think they"re that important so i guess he"ll be over there for the ODIs.

i dont blame him either, its just how most tailenders get out. at least he could wait till the team was back in the lead so that they didnt lose by and innings for the first time in 11 years.

i wondered about that for bracken whether or not hed be having a rest, its a good time to introduce debutants to international cricket when the games arent as important and dont really count towards anything. i was hoping that was the case because i thought bracken might not be over there on tour, and that would be a mistake.

Re: Nathan Bracken?

with T/20 i wouldnt be dissapointed if they didnt play any of our senior players, even n the world cup, its a good chance to give the youngens a go and maybe some frustrated senior state level players, our senior ODI players have enough on their plate without worrying about that shit, id be picking a different keeper for T/20 and play bowlers on the cusp of selection or bowlers comming back from injury (lee, clarke ect) it would be a good chance to show these players that they"re not forgoton and it would keep them striving towards higher duties and it would help them acclimatise to different conditions around the world when and if they do get the nod for longer forms of the game. especialy with the Australia A project all but dead and buried, sorry about going off topic.

Re: Nathan Bracken?

Bring back Australia A I reckon. A touring team's "A" side should host the other's "A".

For example: Australia tour New Zealand, New Zealand A tour Australia against Australia A.

it wouldnt work, different climates wouldnt allow most countrys to do this, i think why they scapped the Australia A concept was because of the hole it put in shield cricket, most teams had to use club players as fill ins, in our summer anyway. as for touring Australia A, most shield players get good funding from countie teams during our winter and are contracted to the countie team, i dont think the counties would be to happy about it.
