I think I said that a C/C deserves to be paid didn't I?

And I didn't say that you shouldn't try to win. What I'm saying is that if you are running around attracting park cricketers with money, then you are missing the point of playing park cricket. If you are so serious about winning a suburban cricket comp (which, to be frank, isn't the strongest around), maybe you should be testing your skills at a higher level?

Totally agree mate.

shouldnt you be out drinking all week with your 'paid for' mates

oh thats right, they dont get paid to hang around the club and there is no cash left for a few freebies for the members

Should I tell you about our junior development camps that we conduct in the pre season and what we do on those camps and how much it costs the club to run the camps and what we charge the juniors to attend the camp? Adam Dale attended last years camp and all the kiddies loved it.
You absolutley have no idea what goes on at our club, how we spend our money and what our priorities are.

Being a junior at camrea
it has been great and the things they have done for me i can not thank any1 but the club

John Bubis has been the best thing camrea has ever done by making him coach.. the camps he has set up have been fantastic and from been a stuggling 3rds player last yr now im playing 1s and 2s and dont look back. Camrea Taipans do look after their juniors and yes they do have some faults but every club does when your a big club. The senior group around that club is great and really help their youth. They had 17 juniors play senior cricket this yr so i dont know how you can say camrea dont care about youth

When all boiled down, it is just a suburban park cricket comp. Why anyone would want to pay anyone other than a Captain/Coach to play park cricket is beyond me.

Surely you play park cricket for the love of the game and the people you play with. If you are paying people just to win a park cricket comp, I dunno, I think you are missing the point.
Bravo!!!!! Well said. I fork out coin each week to play while other blokes I'm playing against are making coin at the same time. Money hungry in my opinion. When it comes down to challenging your sporting skills or dropping down to put some money in your pocket some people choose the later. I like to challenge myself and play the highest standard I can others don't. Sorry just a thought!!!! I just love the game!

Top grades of VTCA, Subbies, ECA, some of the Southern comps are all a better overall standard than Jika Shield, IMO. Even a 'boutique' comp like Box Hill Reporter has some top cricketers. Rosebank and Camrea might match it with a few sides but not many other NMCA sides could. The depth just isn't there. I've played & coached in ECA, watched a lot of cricket across Melbourne. Just the sheer size of some of these comps is an indicator.

I'm actually astounded that there are apparently players in Quick Shield that receive money to play.

Plenty of clubs have a paid C/C, but I'd be very surprised if there were too many players running around in the second grade of a suburban synthetic comp earning coin anywhere else.

where are the 18,19,20,21,22,23 and 24 year olds that were juniors when this golden era started?????? you've had juniors all that time

courtin clark? what happened to him this year?? di battista is leaving?

all clubs have kids to play bit part roles, i'm saying where are they going??? they must be leaving cos you pump money into the recruits and the kids get left behind.
dont tell me your kids get a fair go, they are a long way behind, keon parks, baseballers, uniteds and even druids.....some of them are good players, give them a go!!!! but camrea won't.... not at the expense of winning flags

Re: NMCA(formerly Jika) '08/'09

number 18 is michael Howes who was 15 at the time

Sam had the year off due to a back injury
and when we started the club we never had u17s so we couldnt have juniors to play a grade cricket and yes we didnt have juniors to put in the 1s in the golden era but thats bc there was a development plan to get the juniors from u13s up to play senior cricket. i can tell you my brother is leaving camrea but his not playing on symethtic anymore his going to play district cricket
and yes every1 has their own opinions on what happened but he learned his lession and now is working towards the future.

I notice you have not mentioned the DVCA. Money Shield would be paying more coin than Quick Shield. One of our ex players is playing in that comp and earns more than any of our players in Jika Shield.
We have 3 competitions operating within a 20km radius in the northern suburbs, DVCA, NMCA and HDCA. My view is that they should be merged into one competition which will sort out the weakness in depth.

this debate rages in every comp every year in regards to who won and what they paid their players, this is a capitalist society that we live in and you don't know other peoples reason's are for getting paid and if clubs wish to pay their players so be it. Era's come to an end for many reasons, maybe people should stop whinging about who and how much people get paid and try to make their own clubs better and not waste time or their energy on other club's, because those clubs really don't care.

P.S i don't play for any team in this comp.

Roll on next season!
