Dhoni was a big wicket. If Kumble can hang on then we can get a lead of 70-80. Unless India get lead of 150 then Pakistan will still have a good chance.

we are in this gaem, me team are so good when backs to the wall. we will bowl you indians out for less then 300 then score 350 or more to make you suffer

End of Day-2 and India are 228-6.
With the top order not scoring; it was left VVS and Dhoni to do the damage control.
2morrow it all depends upon VVS and how the lower order are cope with the pressure.
I hope they are able to put up a good lead against Pakistan :)

it wasnt a good day for us. i hope our tailenders stick around and we get a big lead. zaheer, harbhajan and kumble all can bat if they apply themselves. the top order failed miserably today. their inconsistency will be a big problem against australia.

Day 2 Report

India began the second day of the First Test against Pakistan in positive spirits, having come out of the first day the moral victors. With Pakistan 210/8 at the beginning of play, it took India just eleven overs to dismiss Pakistan for 231. A comical run out from Dinesh Karthik at point, involving Misbah jumping over the ball and a tidy bowled from Anil Kumble meant that India commenced their first innings expecting a lead to come out of it.

Dinesh Karthik fell early to a Shoaib Akhtar outswinger for 9 and India were in trouble at 15/1. However, a fifty partnership from Rahul Dravid and Wasim Jaffer ensured that India reached 71 before the loss of the next wicket, when Wasim Jaffer missed a straight one from Shoaib Akhtar and was struck on the pads – rightly adjudged LBW. Just two balls later, Sachin Tendulkar ran himself out with an interesting mix of poor calling and two separate slip ups, all before reaching half way down the pitch and unsuccessfully attempting to turn back.

A mere one ball after cracking Tanvir for four through the covers, Sourav Ganguly fell to a fine inswinger which he inside edged onto the stumps on 8. Just two overs later, Rahul Dravid’s stumps were also disturbed by the strange looking but very effective left arm medium pacer. India were reeling and Shoaib Malik would have hoped that his team could have dismissed the remaining Indian batsmen with minimal fuss.

However, VVS Laxman and Mahendra Dhoni put on a brisk hundred partnership; both scored fifties as the early morning moisture faded away completely as the relatively mild sun shone on the Delhi pitch. Dhoni fell near the end of the day, attempting to hit Kaneria over the infield by advancing down the wicket but captain (or, on a roman note – centurion) Anil Kumble saw out the remaining overs of the day with Laxman also walking back to the pavilion, not out.

A feature common to my articles is pace watch, quick info on roughly how fast each of the pace bowlers has bowled:

India:

Zaheer Khan – 125-140kph
Munaf Patel – 125-142kph
Sourav Ganguly – 110-120kph

Pakistan:

Shoaib Akhtar – 130-150kph
Mohammad Sami – 125-142kph
Sohail Tanvir - 115-130kph

Cheers for that Manee, a good read, I dont agree with Shoaib being allowed to play for Pakistan, but that isn't my call. ;)

I think today is the most important day of play. The game is still in the balance. If India get a lead of around 100 then things can be tricky for Pakistan, but if Pakistan restrict the lead to around 50 then they have a chance in the game as India will have to bat on the 4th and possibly the 5th day pitch.

Very nice report manee. India have a great start today. Kumble is batting well with Laxman. Lead of 28 now. The ball is helping for Kaneria so it is good sign because India have two spinners.

Kumble and Harbhajan dismissed. Looks like we won't be able to get a big lead now. Laxman should try to keep most of the strike against Kaneria.

India all out for 276. It was poor batting by tailenders :mad: They should use their brain more. Why did Laxman let them face so many balls? poor strategy by India. Now Pakistan have advantage because 45 runs lead is very poor.

bad session for india....i hope that we get them for a low score but i think india will show us today how to lose from a good position...pakistan made a comeback only because of bad batting by india.

Finally a wicket for India. Brilliant catch by Laxman. I think spinners will have to do the job today. I hope Bhajji and Kumble can produce there magic. The wicket is dead I dont have much hope from fast bowlers.

2 down and India could rip through them if kumble gets in rhythm. This pitch will be hard to bat on on day 4 and 5 so they'll need to get them out quickly and cheaply.

this is favorite ground for kumble...i hope he can repeat his performance because india need it very much....if pakistan get a lead more than 250 then india is in trouble.

Salman Butt dismissed. I'd say India is back in the game now. Although, you can't say anything until Misbah is dismissed. There is about 1 more hour of play remaining in the day so a wicket or two will be nice.

Just about in favour of India at the moment, although somewhat balanced. Bearing in mind the 1st innings score, 250 could be tricky to chase, if Pakistan can get there.

Malik got out in very unlucky way. Misbah dropped  :mad: thats a very important wicket. We should not repeat the mistake of the last innings and get the tailenders early.

I'm going out on a limb here, Pakistan to win here.

I think second innings, Shoiab will prove too much, aswell as the spinners. Obviously India do have some kind of super powers as to there proformance, when they think they're down, somehow some magic brings them back into it. Even i'd say.
