That would hack me off somewhat, makes you wonder who he upset - seems a pretty weird way to get revenge.
At least he got the nod eventually, would have been far worse if he'd never got the chance to actually play for England.

Wow, that's a strange one alright. Makes you wonder what would have happened had he'd played - seems as though the pitch was taking spin. He might have gone to play 50 tests or so.

That is a very bad joke. I think something similar happened with ishant sharma. I think first BCCI called him and when he got ready to travel then they changed the decision. But he got the chance to play later.

Similar although not quite the same, at least he was summoned by the actual board and not by someone pretending to be the board.
Not good either way though, getting your hopes up then having them dashed.

It doesn't seem like it, when I first read the article it seemed like the guy's dad may have been the culprit, as he went to find him with a telegram, however, I think that was down to me scan reading the article.
In all likelihood, it was a team mate, typical club prank!

This happend to me once, for Gwent under 15's. Got the call that I was in but it was my Dad and Uncle playing a joke, not happy is an understatment.
