Reflexes and keeping wicket

Further to the thread we have had asking for help with their wicket keeping, it got me thinking about reflexes and how to improve.

Are there any drills or exercises that I (and others) can include to help minimise reaction time? I'm interested from a goal keeping point of view but I've also dabbled a bit behind the stumps.

do situps to improve fitness for keeping?

It depends but the short answer is: most of the time, No.

No one exercise can improve cricket fitness. You need a plan.

I must admit I'm skeptical about that kind of training. Mainly because I have never seen it in action.

Perhaps, one day, I shall have the opportunity to show you. :D

They belong in the toolbox that sits on the shelf next to the one containing imagery and self hypnosis ;)

Personally, I'm willing to give anything a go, just in case it does help. As long as you keep it in perspective and only use it as part of your training it can't do to much harm, can it?

Also, some great articles again there David - a great help.

Very true about trying stuff.

I once heard that as long as you can test and monitor results then you should try anything. If it works for you then keep doing it until it doesn't.

It's all about testing results.
