Results from Round 1

Brighton Grammar all out 158 (Wallace 50, Martyn 5 for 20 odd)

Haileybury 1 for 159 ( Wakefield M 101* Wakefield R 30* Coleman 25)

After not caring last week against MGS the 'juggernaut' stepped out in fine fashion and demolished the Brighton Grammar School

Re: Results from Round 1

Another great result for the bloods bring on wesley next week. Lets be honest another samshing from the juggernaut. The three peat is on the cards even without a bowling attack. The batting lineup is as good if not better than last year. Don't be suprised if there are some scores in excess of 400 after chriisy.

Re: Results from Round 1

Well, i suggest all the other teams in the competition sit up and take notice of the absolute domination handed out to "The boys from Brighton", from the juggernaut, who absolutely steam rolled BGS in a display of class and power hitting. Maxxie, congrats on a personal note, from one skipper to the next, well done mate, plenty more to come pal

Geelong College 6/217 after 50 overs

Kitchen 113 (110)

Def by

Caulfield Grammar 6/220

O'Sullivan 56*
Burge 42
Small 42

Very good win from CGS after a great knock from Kitchen, looks like he will dominate most attacks this year, flat batted a few big sixes. Geelong also had a year 8 player that batted really well, looks promising for the future.
Caulfield started off quickly in reply, reaching 45 without loss in the 8th over before 2 wickets from Beaumont put us on the back foot a bit.
Great innings from O'Sullivan steered us through to a very good victory

Re: Results from Round 1

Carey won toss - batted
Good start from Wesley bowlers but let it slip in middle overs, although a solid finish. Carey stuck at ther task and hung around and scrambled at the end to reach a resonable total. Wesley bowled 30 extras tho, this was partially down to sum inconsistant umpiring tho.

Carey 9/186 50 overs.

Wesley then batted and got off to an awful start with both opens goin early. The Gairns brothers both then consolidated and looked gd until both were caught in the covers driving on a 2 paced wicket. Was then a couple of dodgey decisions at a point in the game were Wesley were rebuilding but in the end Wesley were bowled out with most the lower order throwing their wickets away.

Wesley 86 all out. 30 overs.

Wesley lost this game rather than Carey winning it. No stand out performances. A poor game and start to the season.

You are an absolute joke mate. How u can say that wesley lost the game rather than carey winning it. did u not think making 200 on a very slow and lush outfield is a very good score. Did u not think about how well some of the carey bowlers bowled including Matt Yeo. He couldnt of beat the bat more. Every single ball, play and miss. Fielding was brilliant from carey. No drop catches. Wesley need to realise that they arent the gods of the APS. They are actually really terrible. When you bowl a team out for 86, you generally have bowled pretty good. Complaining about a 2 paced wicket, it couldnt have been more of a road. You guys are jokes.

Re: Results from Round 1

Well done to Caufield. Truly shocking game on behalf of Geelong College, we assumed we had the game in the bad.
Kitchen was amazing, seriously, probrably the best innings ive ever seen from a junior. I'm not being one eyed here, but i'm not sure what his weaknesses are. I'm sure the Caufield boys can back me up there.

But anyway, good signs from The GC camp, along with kitchen, Nice looked excellent (20 runs), so did Wood (29). Lugg chipped in with a handy 24, and Sommers supporting Kitchen at the end, turning over the strike was good.

Beaumont was the pick of Colleges bowlers, moving it both ways, on a good deck, and sommers doing the same. Roberts with his off spin had excellent flight and variation. There were some real "hot saves" also.

Breen (0/23 off 10 bowled nice, but way too quick for a spinner) and Handel (2/16 off 10) were probrably the pick of the bowlers for Caufield.

Re: Results from Round 1

Who cares about carey versus purple faggots a battle for second last, although apparently the pom from wesley get a shocker and looked very solid, and chancellor supposedly a stunning 25 (has he played ones previously?)

Hailebury far too good wakefields are best players the in aps, and beware of patto after xmas

how did scotch go???

Re: Results from Round 1

Scotch were comprehensively beaten by a ripper Xavier unit.

Scotch won the toss and bowled and a lovely wicket and got the wicket of Goss with a good ball. Clayton was all talk and arrogance but he soon shut up when he was being smashed around the park. Will Ryan batted beautifully for 35, Cross 30 odd, and Ryan Craig and Tommy Donnellon some great hard hitting to get Xavier to 205.

Scotch's innings was all but over in only the third ball of their innings Clayton caught at point after already swinging at 2 previous balls. Andrew McGorian bowled extreme heat and zen troubling all batters. Jack O'Sullivan at the other end was fantastic and ended up taking 3 wickets. New xavier mediums came on and kept the score down until the spin attack for xavier was introduced.

Will Ryan 10 overs 1 wicket for only 6 runs was brilliant and Goss bowled well to take 2 wickets. Xavier wrapping up scotch for 146.

Might i mention that Scotchs keeper (McMillan is it) is an absoulute gun. Great keeper, bloke, and not a bad batter.

Scotch were comprehensivly beaten by a better unit. However Moe was not smashed around the park he bowled well, took a vital wicket. The opening bowler McGorian was not bowling extreme heat, not even close, Clayton got himself out with an average shot, if he'd got going he would have smashed the xavier attack all over the park, he is a class act. I thought Xavier lacked some depth in the bowling too, they're batting was quite good i thought as well as their fielding but apart from the opening bowlers and maybe first change and willy, they lacked penetration. Put simply Scotch are extremely inexperienced, 8 debutants this year ranging from years 8-10, let's see what happens.

Re: Results from Round 1

What did we learn?
Not much new HC will be favourites.and had 4 yr 9's!!
MGS will be solid.
XC are a top 4 chance.
Carey esp if they get Loorham will have their best year for a while
StKevins, CGS and GC will still be up there and could surprise

Scotch will struggle.
BGS had a shocker first up and may struggle to recover-why would you bat Plumridge and Singh at 10 and 11. All the other year 9's did well esp Ryan,Keath,McMahon and Coleman

WC are as good as usual

The ump was a ********in joke the pom was no were near it. He stood ther in disbelif until walkin off and the ump then had the nerve to call him and the captain over at the end of the game and warned him that if he hadnt apolgised he would have been reported for bringin the game in to disrepute and for questioning an umpires decisons. THe umpire was the one ruining the game with other shocking calls throughout the game. This is ruinin cricket and these power crazy umps should be removed from the game.
