Round 8 Previews

Re: Round 8 Previews

MGS

Betts- Has been the man to hold MGS together on many occasions throughout this year and will be the main man with his tight spinners and his solid batting.

Keath - Keath has not been at his best this year it is fair to say, but respect must be given for a reknowned run scorer and Vic Under 17 skipper. Will be a solid contributor all around.

Morris - Skipper Morris will need to get MGS off to a good start if they are any chance in this game. A big one is reckoning if he can get through the strong Xavier attack.

Voyage - Holds together the MGs attack, with his not quick, but lethal outswingers that can cause some trouble for the opening batters. Will need to be at his best.

XAVIER

Curtain - Has found his scintilating best in the past two weeks and will again looking to perform. A hundred beckons for this talent, hitting two 50s at ease in the last two weeks.

Goss It is fair to say the Xavier skipper has not fulfilled his potential this year but is by no means not in form. Will be looking for a big one to steer the Xavier ship home and is very much an important player.

Hannan Nicknamed 'the wicket machine' , Hannan has proved wonders this year, already scalping together 22 wickets including 17 in the past two weeks. His pace and awkward action will again prove tough for the MGS bats.

McGorian After coming off 2 weeks out of the game, McGorian was at his best bowling quick, angrily and well against Skevs taking 3 wickets in the first innings and genuinely scaring the St Kevins batters. Very capable of taking 2-3 in his opening spell and is super important to the Xavier attack.

Overview

In what will basically be the 'Grand Final' of the APS, these two teams are very evenly matched. Played out at todd Rd, Xavier are still expecting 3-4 bus loads of their army on Friday afternoon to cheer them on, similar to St Kevins last week. In what will be a fanatical affair, i believe Xavier have done the hard work and are hungrier for this win than ever before.

Final Result Xavier by 20 runs

Interesting thoughts there. Keath has not been far away from his best. Averaging 40 with limited chances to make 100+. Bett has been averaging 60 with the bat and can be considered a genuine APS allrounder that is far better than 'solid' and 'morris will need to get them off to a good start'...? how, by winning the toss? or does he open the batting these days?

Completely off the track mate...

Bett doesn't bowl spin, he now bowls part time medium pace so he can concentrate on his batting

Voyage bowls inswing

Morris bats 8 or 9 to solidify the lower order

and Keath has quit cricket because he doesn't want girls to think he's just a 'sport guy'

Re: Round 8 Previews

I think papa_lia needs to get his facts right before he posts such big news on bigcricket. Fiora Dud is completely correct. Its a shame to see keath will so much talent quit cricket.

There is also the big Geelong derby in round 9. Hopefully GC can put up a good fight.

hopefully for MGS' sake, who are the key players for both sides in that game?
