Ryobi Cup Slashed To Six Games/one Month Tournament

New South Wales won the elimination final yesterday against Victoria. Victoria batted first and scored 9/321 from their 50 overs, Dan Christian made 117, Rob Quiney 89 and Cameron White chipped in with 42. Sean Abbott bowled well again to finish with 3/53, pretty respectable figures considering the game was at North Sydney Oval.

In reply it was the David Warner for New South Wales show with Warner smashing his way to 197 before being caught on the boundary at deep square leg. His innings included 20 fours and 10 sixes and came off only 141 balls. Warner was out in the 49th over as NSW finished up on 6/324, winning with just three balls to spare. Peter Nevill was the only other major contributor, scoring 46 such was Warner's dominance. Fawad Ahmed was the only multiple wicket taker for the Vics with 2/64.

NSW now play Queensland in the final on Sunday at North Sydney Oval. Game begins at 10am local time (11pm Saturday Night GMT). South Australia finished with the wooden spoon after finishing last.

So QLD take the title with 5 balls to spare with some big hitting from Cutting at the end, Slats and Clark sounded at bit sad ;)

Saw the Queensland innings and have to say it appeared a good quality of game. High scores and a good run chase. Of course this has to be put into perspective of the North Sydney oval and all the top one day players out of the country.

Queensland are a funny team, look pretty average on paper yet keep winning stuff.. Obviously just combine well as a side. Interesting to see that they favourite to come last in the Shield, people still not rating them

It's the same with the Auckland Aces in New Zealand's domestic competitions and yet they keep dominating the shorter formats.

Well done to Queensland on winning the Ryobi Cup but I hope this is the last time we see this format, it definitely did not work as a concept. At least they reduced the overs back to 10 overs per bowler though, being able to bowl 13 was ridiculous.
