Traditionally the fielder effecting the run out did not get official recognition.
You will find however that nowadays most cricket clubs do acknowledge this and in some cases even give trophies for the most run outs.
At our club we do note who effected the runout, and it may be any number of players involved (eg: deep fieldr thows to cut-off fielder who throws to keeper who throws to bowler who effects runout. We credit all four fielders, other don't.
We do not give a run out or catches trophy but do have a 'cricketer of the year' trophy which is won on a points system. We credit the same points for a run out as we do for a catch or stumping.
