Senior Division 2011/2012

Some interesting results - Spotty to knock off Yarraville, Hoppers to beat McKinnon both big surprises?

Other games in the balance, Royal Park v Greenvale looks a cracker, both teams with good recruits (Mougahnie and Brown for Greenvale, the PNG boys for RPB). Bentleigh with 112 may not be enough but don't diuscount McInness, he's already made in roads to the APW top order. South Caulfield v St Bernards should be a ripper, with Caunce back South Caulf have some bowling depth but will need everything to go right to defend 180.

With the switch to 1 dayers, some big clashes in the context of the season.

Yarraville vs McKinnon – 1st vs 3rd, should be a great contest, Yarraville to be too strong at home but not without a fight from the young McKinnon boys, who have the edge with bowling & fielding. They simply won’t be able to knock Yarraville’s top order over, who got out of jail last game with the rain vs Spotswood.

Willy vs South Caulfield – 11th vs 12th, massive game. Surely South Caulfield will be pumped up to register a win? Where are the runs we expected from Grey, Pope & Dowling? Surely one of them needs to get a big score. Similarily, Willy have been competitive with the recruit from Jacana providing great batting in the middle order.

St Bernards vs Bentleigh – 7th vs 9th, reply of last year’s Semi where Bentleigh flogged St Bernards. Both sides are down on match practice with Bentleigh obviously missing their guns Hill & Roach. St Bernards starting to hit straps and home ground advantage should see them through in a nail biter.

Hoppers vs Greenvale – 6th vs 8th, Greenvale very impressive thus far and should be too strong for the Hoppers side propped up by a couple of veterans. Brown, Moughanie, Jacobs have been great picks up for Greenvale and I cant see them losing this

APW vs Spotswood – 4th vs 10th and Spotty should win easy, look a good side with depth this year. APW just not firing and have not seemed to click.

RPB vs Beauy – 2nd vs 5th and just about match of the round. Beauy have Beshara close to a return who will add batting depth, but Royal Park are on fire and their PNG recruits have been stars. Beauy by 10 runs in a close one.

APW vs Spotswood – 4th vs 10th and Spotty should win easy, look a good side with depth this year. APW just not firing and have not seemed to click.

Wrong Wrong Wrong!!!!!!!!

Spotswood vs St Bernards – Spotty to be too strong at home, Dickinson to continue on his merry way – early Paxino favourite?
Beauy vs Hoppers – match of the round – have been wrong on Hoppers, look a good team and haven’t had to rely on Daisy. Would pay money to watch the spinner vs Hewitt. Beauy just, home ground advantage the key.
Greenvale vs Yarraville – the green tracksuits to win with a big score from O’Keefe. Don’t think Greenvale too far away, but Yarraville don’t lose 2 day games. If its rained out 1st week, I reserve right to adjust the tip.
Bentleigh vs. Willy – Bentleigh surely, again home ground and the strength of Street to get them through. Roach is back this week or next game?
McKinnon vs APW – big clash, McKinnon very impressive last week. Should just get over the line in a close one vs an improving APW team that is starting to click.
Sth Caulfield vs Royal Park – Royal Park in another nail biter, Contessa and Hillas too classy against an under performing South Caulfield so far, though there signs of the batting we expect, in their last game.

Lets hope we get two full days in.

Looking like a great game Beauy Vs Hoppers - looks like Daisy got amongst it currently 90no. Will be interesting Hewitt Vs The Sheik of Tweek.
Noticed he picked up 4/17 playing 20/20 for Melb Uni Vs Footscray Edgwater last night. The bloke certainly is a star.

Williamstown would currently have to be fielding one of the worst sides I've ever seen in Senior Division. No youth at all in the side either. The current situation against Bentleigh is no help in them proving me wrong!

Believe he maybe wanting a move to a new club next season !!!!!!
heard a rumour Nash is on his way at xmas and that Doutta are on the lookout for a replacement overseas for the 2nd half of the season can anyone confirm ?, would be a shame if he did go its been great for the comp to have players of his standing mixing it with us all !

Round 9
Yarraville (3rd) vs APW (1st) - match of the round. APW been brilliant the last few rounds and if Amini is in for the rest of the year they should be a big chance. Yarraville dont lose many two day games at home, and will be stinging after going down to Beauy last week. Seems O'Keefe has to get them still, so his wicket is the biggest.
Beaumaris (5th) vs St Bernards (10th) - another home game for Beauy and they should be too good for a dissapointing St Bernards, who lack the depth and quality to be a force this season after losing both of their poms from last year. Hewitt just starting to strike some form again and Riazadun has been good, Beauy should win this
Greenvale (8th) vs Willy (12th) - Greenvale should get the max points here against a woeful Willy, look for Greenvales top order to fill their boots
Hoppers (2nd) - South Caulfield (9th) - Hoppers should also be too strong here, and win easy. Souths dissapointing after so many years around the 3rd-4th mark. Hoppers' spinner has been amazing and looks on track to take 45-50 wickets including long spells in finals.
McKinnon (6th) vs Spotswood (4th) - a beauty of a game. The young McKinnon pups vs the veterans at Spotty. The McKinnon boys are just about the best drilled fielding side in the VT thanks to Hall's influence, but they desperately lack his batting prowess. Both Poms have been sub par with the bat. Spotty have picked up Turner again, add him to Dickinson, Sharma and Leddin and the batting is good. Spotty should get over the line.
RPB (11th) vs Bentleigh (7th) - Massive game for both. RPB need a better showing after collapsing vs Hoppers last week. Bentleigh have been up and down but surely should win this after the momentum of last week. RPB havent won since November and Bentleigh should prevail here unless Hillas can get another big score.

Interesting to note Yarraville /APW clash scheduled at Yarraville again for the 4th year in a row??? I'm sure the boys from APW would love the opportunity to host the premier VTCA club at least once on home soil maybe VTCA will take note next season????

Maybe they don't want the sprinklers coming on
Been a big year for accidents hey sledge. Remember this year when your mob were 8 for 40 and the dog walkers apparently put three giant holes in the covers preventing any play from taking place on day 2. Fingers crossed Bernards dont win that protest hey.
