Roughly the same age, but obviously nothing anywhere near as trumatic as Joe. Oli's injury was bad for him at the time (no PE for 3 months having just started high school) but he had a clear target - to be back bowling by Easter which was about 4 months from when he first met the physio. The guy was great in encouraging Oli, but it was a two way thing as he could see Oli was determined to get his knee stronger again. The trick was 'little and often' so he never prescribed an hour, it was always 15 mins, but 3 times a day, so if he missed one he still got 30 mins in. Oli did 15 mins before school, 15 mins when he first got in and then 15 mins after tea, OK not every day, but I would say he did at least 5 days a week with the full 45 and 30 on the other days. Bit of a change in routine for all of us, but the difference between each session with the physio were really marked. As I am sure Liz will confirm, you cant cheat on your homework with a physio.

We've had a mishap in recent weeks with my sons progression towards full recovery after being mown down by a car on a crossing, but he's back on track now. Personally as I move towards the cricket season here in the UK (April) I'm out of condition and I've got a problem with my right foot. It's looking a bit sketchy at the minute and I'm gutted as this is the season my older son (14) will probably get to play adult cricket in the 4th XI and I was looking forward to that prospect. For all the updates have a look at my blog...

Nah, he was lucky, a split second later and he'd have been dead, under the car, instead of glancing off the rounded front corner of it as he did, still made a right mess of his leg. It'll be a year on Apr 6th this year, but he'll be back in whites by then with a ball in his hand taking wickets and maybe making a few runs. Me... Just done some Yoga, stretches and exercises, might be able to squeeze another season out of the old body, may need some arch supports in the foot and ice baths for it after? Will have to see what happens in the coming months.

I vaguely remember your son having a different injury the last time I was here (~seven months ago). Ouch! Here's to a speedy recovery.

Yeah he's had a bad year, run down by the car on a crossing, smashed his leg to smithereens - that's what's taken him the year to recover from (A year on April 6th). A few weeks back he fell over in the snow and we thought he'd broken the same leg in a different place at the top of the tibia at the knee joint - but that was a week long false alarm. You might be thinking of the older son (14 years old) he had an in-growing toe nail in the summer. Other than that they're both okay and getting ready for the season to start here in April.

It

It's pretty tough, but what I like about it, is it's fast and doesn't get boring. Hello mate, you're quite near me! What do you do... Bat/bowl?
Im a fellow leggie part time. And 4/5 batsman but specialist fielder really Used to be regular here but life got in the way as it does.
Back on the cricket now a lot. Been voted as 3rd team capital for my club even tho was second team regular so no sure of that's a promotion or not ;)

Capital = captain when not using a phone

Sounds like a vote of confidence to me! You should do what my old captain of of our 3rd XI used to do... He'd always put himself on to bowl once the tail-enders were in, ensuring that he picked up a bag of wickets in every game! I think he'll hold the club record for the most wickets for quite some time now, but he was a good bowler whilst being a bit cheeky with that tactic.

SteveyD!!! Well Hello to you... obviously been really busy spending all those bonuses :D

Haha, left JL now... working for a software company and getting paid more than double what I was getting at John Lewis.
Becoming captain has made me realise just how disorganised the club is. It appears our 1st captain picks a team around tuesday, 2nd around thursday leaving the 3rd to sort out friday.... I'm instigating a policy of collecting responses a week in advance where possibel to aid it... I know i'm going to get stuck dealing with the emails every week, but better organisation...

SteveyD, if you can get the blokes to sign up then I would highly recommend www.teamer.net

The only real problem is that whilst its great for managers/organisers it does rely on players saying yes/no, now I know that 'should' be easy but somehow in the real world it isn't. We have adopted it at the junior club where I coach and most of the parents love it because it keeps them fully informed and I am having another try with the seniors this year as I have been roped in to captain the 2nds (only really went along originally as taxi for my lad!). Best of luck and remember Terry Jenner's bucket full of runs that spinners are allowed, something I will try my best to adhere to this season.

I've actually looked at that before, the problem is the cost, and (as you mention) getting the adults to change their ways.
We're having a committeee meeting enxt week to discuss. Should be interesting!
