Re: subbies season 07/08 & 08/09

He had more money shots than just a cow shot against us, smashed them to all parts and didnt give a chance. Mostly fact with Beshara I think, though he is a bit of a cult figure. It funny I was in the ormond rooms this year and one of their club missions/mottos is to be respected by their peers or something along those lines. Thats working out well isn't it.

Long time reader, first time poster.

Cant believe all the talk about Beshara. Isnt there any other topic or players we can talk about. He must love reading all this.

Theres no doubt he is a fine all round cricket, probably the best player in the comp. He definitely has the psychological edge over a number of teams and individual players. Bowls genuine heat and can hit the ball a long way. Stats are impressive, but lets be honest any one who bowls 38 overs from 1 end should really take at least 4 wickets a game. i would hate to be a seamer trying to get a bowl in that side ... selfish? Should be playing at district level to see how good he really is.

Speaking of guys bowling heat, theres a guy who plays for Elsternwick who opened against us and had a great "Brett Lee" style action. they call him all sorts of nick names like "Binga, Shim-sham, ... etc. He has got "potential" that kid.

There sum guy who plays for Elsterwick that just talks non stop in the field. Never stops ... he even commentates sum of the play whilst in progress, even when he's bowling. He certainly talks a good game, pretty funny sum times, keeps his players and opposition entertained all day.

Best bat this season is the pom from Croyden. U19 Eng vice captain. this boy can bat very well.

Re: subbies season 07/08 & 08/09

Seems like there has been a directive at ormond to get as many people on this forum and pump up the rather large tyres of Simon Beshara - let's all move on please

And who thinks Harper's a good sledge - bloke talks so much cr*p it's not funny!

the english boy from croyden is a good bat, got 50 against our 1's, his buddy hassan uses his mouth more than his bat though, about an over after he opned it beshara had sent him back with a bouncer.

i think hales is good though, might see more of him at a higher level soon.

Any one heard the news that Shane Harwood will be at Melton next year. Hes certainly having a good season for ther VICS, but subbies r calling 4 him. He migh choose Melton over IPL. Big call.

Snickers sure would cause havoc amongst sum top orders on sum dodgy decks.

Fleming, Dale, Harwood and Shimmel. Not a bad attack for Subbies rep side.

Re: subbies season 07/08 & 08/09

Firstly, Beshara is not a cult figure he is 1 of 44 players at Ormond and that's the way it should be(every player is equally important). Yes, we at ormond have had fun with this site but this time you have over stepped the mark. If you are going to comment on a forum for christ sake get your information right. Past 5 seasons the Ormond Hatch side has had a No Junk Food policy but to claim they were only allowed to eat salad is ludicrous. They also had a hatch Camp which proved to be an enormous success amongst the Hatch squad and this has also helped the recruitment of numerous players(Wilson, Boyle, Bricker, Everett, Singleton). To imply an individual is selfish for bolwing 38 overs is also astonishing without knowing the circumstances of the game - please tell me who should of bowled? Ormond Cricket Club has improved and should not be judged solely on where they are on the ladder. Surely there is more to a Cricket Club than where you finish on the ladder. How many of your clubs have invited umpires down to training this season ? I know ormond have
Don't criticise and individual or a club without knowing the facts. Move on

Re: subbies season 07/08 & 08/09

Heat policy is such:

If there is a result on the first day of a two day play, play will not happen on the second day unless both captains agree.

In relation to the Coburg game, obviously both captains didn't agree.

Hales and Lawrence are the two best batsmen that we have played against this season.

Dylan George didn't play against us but will apparently go to a district club next season.

Sam Dalton looked very solid but very ordinary.

the bowler you are talking about is callum o'neil, brother of their captain coach rohan. played with him at school cricket and was very quick. ended up playing with melbourne, with the occasional 1st XI game.

Re: subbies season 07/08 & 08/09

Pradeep is a class above both Hales and Lawrence, pure quality he just looks a head above the rest with the bat.

Also George is a young gun. Will be a very good bowler for a long time, Premier cricket awaits this lad in the next few years. Probably next season.

Pradeep is the most technically gifted batsman in the comp... but when things get tough he does tend give his wicket away.
Hales is a talent... but not sure how mentally tough he is against the better bowling teams.

100% on hales, tries to score off every ball and can hit it very well. but as soon as you tie him down he tries to hit his way out of it and gets out.

Whippet i've heard that there will be a 20-20 comp next year, there are meetings being held in the next few week about it. Did Macmahon do anything in the 20-20s, he is a gun, and a good bloke to. The sort of bloke you'd want as your captain coach. Unlike Beshara, again good player but very strange cat. I heard that he wouldnt let his hatch kids eat anything except salad during the entire carnival, and they had a sleep over in the club rooms. They are obviously moving in the right direction, firsts have climbed off the bottom to be 12th this season, the 2nds are also flying with 3 points, plenty of players coming through the grades. George is good but he will surely go to district cricket shortly, unless Simon get the whole team reported in his first game as captain holds him back. Also i've heard the big fella being sledged too, and he didn't like it much at all. His sledges dont make any sence, certainly not in the class of Fleming or Harper.

yes definately in the pipe line...........have heard also the is going to b a comp next year.........with the one day uniforms looking the goods except ours......eek.......20/20 should be in.......

though 1 thing that might dissadvantage the 20/20 comp is the state of the grounds/wickets..........due to the drought......i would rather play 1 dayers and 2 dayers if that was the case.........

Only 1 man can help get Australia out of the biggest whole they have been in our life time ......... Simon Beshara. Simon your country needs you.

P.S: I was at the g 2nite and heard a whisper that A Hilditch will be walking his dog 2moro at E.E Gunn Reserve (Ormond vs Box Hill) to watch the aforementioned strutt his stuff. Come on Simon bowl ur 40 overs unchanged, be the man for Ormond CC ... again.

Re: subbies season 07/08 & 08/09

Throwdowns who are you and what level do you play at ormond, ones? Are you by chance the captain? Wouldnt surprise me. Yeah O'Neill is at Elsternwick and is rapid having faced him at district level, but was injured earlier in the year against us so not sure if hes back to full pace yet. Shimell is the other guy, bowls pretty quick, but they fall away a fair bit after that, a few pie mediums and a spinner.
A few questions?
Who is the most valuable player in the comp (all 28 teams)
Best bat
Best bowler
Quickest bowler

If Hilditch is at Ormond tommorrow i'll come down and clip him, again got the selection of the aussie team all wrong. Mcgain needs to play in that side, you cant win a game playing part time spinners and only 3.5 recognised bowlers(although hopes did bowl well for a .5). I would open with Hopes and maybe even hughes(though warner deserves another crack, someone should just tell him to tee off and stop trying to be an opener who can bat for 40 overs). Hopes at least will have a go, unlike clarke. Clarke can bat with a strike rate of 60 at number 4 instead of waste the power plays by getting himself in(dont get me wrong, great player, but not an opener). Then i would drop white for mcgain. Hopes was wasted in terms of batting tonight. And why was Haddin at 3, when has he ever batted 3 before, opened a few times for Aus and batted 4-5 with NSW. Hilfenhous was terrible also, has serious potential but hasnt worked out how to bowl in one dayers yet.
