Swann back from the wilderness

Oliver Brett said:
For all the success he achieved for the national team, Duncan Fletcher's reign as England cricket coach featured an unofficial blacklist of players whose faces did not quite fit.

Graeme Swann was very much one of them. Branded as being confident to the point of cockiness, he earned a solitary one-day international cap for his country in 2000, and did not feature again.

Nice little interview with the recalled Graeme Swan, who has been recalled after about 7 years in the international wilderness.

The interview touches upon whether he was one of the band of players who face 'didn't fit' under the Fletcher regime and what he can bring to the table in terms of helping Panesar develop his one day game.

Re: Swann back from the wilderness

hes done really well in sri lanka. if he had the potential then keeping him out for so long was stupidity

Re: Swann back from the wilderness

Hes gonna have to stay in the team as he's bowling so well montys not going to get a look in the odi team.

Re: Swann back from the wilderness

Thing is, we all know Monty is entertainment, but is he economical above others? No, he isn't, god even my idol Ian Blackwell is better bowler, and batter, in ODI's, but obviously this green patch for Swann will do Montys shout no better, but then again, just wait till the whites come back out, i doubt Swann will come into the Test side, but saying that, maybe he could, he does alright at Nottingham in the FC game averaging 33 with the ball and 26 with the bat, so hes a bit of alright, and on these slow, turning pitches, and the heat im sure Monty could use a spin twin.

Re: Swann back from the wilderness

i think swann is good. why dont england take their own players rather than traitors like monty and peitersen

Re: Swann back from the wilderness

Yeah i know, england r full of other nationalities,

strauss, pietersen, prior are all south african, Monty only has family in India he is English.

why cant england not use english people? the sri lankan team only uses sri lankan born players.

Re: Swann back from the wilderness

its because of traitors who knew they would have to face a lot of competition to make it into the south african team and decided to ditch their motherland. :cursing: i have no respect for such people

Re: Swann back from the wilderness

Though this is moving off topic, to be fair to Pietersen he does have an English mother, so it's not as if he is completely alien.

Once I can access it I'll post up the story of the S.A team trying to poach a young Pakistani leg spinner - far worse an offence in my mind.

An unknown 13-year-old leg-spinner has caught the attention of the touring South African team who are very impressed with the talent the class nine student packs in his bowling.

Agha Sharjeel, who was sent to the South African nets on Monday by his local club, had the visiting team's manager Goolam Rajah and other players clustering around him.

Rajah even asked the youngster if he could meet with his parents and was heard telling the youngster that if he wanted he could be taken to South Africa and educated and groomed into a good player.

Full story here.

Just shows that all teams are the same when it comes to stealing players.

Re: Swann back from the wilderness

thats not the correct thing to do, why are they trying to steal a player from another country?

Re: Swann back from the wilderness

they were only offering him better opportunities. did they ever say that he would be forced to play for them? he could return back to pakistan later and play for them if he wanted.tbh i wouldnt respect him much if he chose to betray pakistan and play for us.
