TALL TALES

Wellams geo phys machine failed to find anything metallic under a good square km area that had been pin pointed as a likely hiding place. Wellam was not quite ready to give up and he and Reeves went further into the dunes, this time also using the Ground Penetrating Radar/Magnetometer. They had not gone any more than 500m when the GPR picked up a clear beep on the radar screen. Wellham called out to the rest of the group, including Dunning.

I think we have something.

The others rushed to join Wellham and Reeves when at the same moment there was a loud humming and an alien craft emerged from beneath the dunes no more than 50m from them. Then another one further afield!!! They were all dumb struck, except Digger Reeves.

"Run!" Shouted Digger Reeves dragging the GPR as quickly as he could. "I think we've found them" he yelled into his satelite phone to Col Dunning. "Two craft at least spilling out of the sand dune position beta."

Back at base camp Col Dunning ordered his drone controllers to keep their distance but follow and record the alien crafts.

Soon helicopters were taking off, with one already in the air near the position beta Sand dune. . . Close to the alien craft spilling sand off their flanks as they rose upwards .. . .

The moment the first of the Apaches roared into view the alien craft fired what appeared to be a orange laser beam at the choppers destroying both even before they had time to fire even one hellfire missile. Then two more following Apaches did get off a hellfire each with both hitting the lead alien craft sending it crashing into the dunes.

Then a bubble like cage appeared round the other four craft and ensuring missiles had no affect and soon the remaining Apaches had been lasored from the sky. Dunning ordered the Nighthawks and Harriers to fully arm and prepare to engage the enemy ships if they headed for the small but bustling town of Warburton. All residents were told to stop what they were doing and find shelter.

Reeves and Wellam amidst weapon fire were fleeing back to Digger Reeve's precious 4WD when in sight of it, it exploded as an orange laser beam beam blew it to pieces.
All the petrol ⛽️ in Digger's truck went up with a a big red explosion. 🔥
Digger and Richie took cover and watched talking to Col Dunning and Peter with a satelite phone back at base camp, even Wellam explaining about some sort to shielding bubble.🛸
Simultaneously Digger was scoping out where the two Apache choppers🚁 had crashed and soon he and Wellam were jogging towards the nearest crashed helicopter to aid any survivors. Peter said more drones were being sent out.
Armed drones too..

Back at Base Camp Col Dunning🎖was talking to the joint Australian and US Military NT Tingle Air base Commanders appraising them of developments. 🛰
Tingle Air base is roughly 700km NNE of Warburton
and is a strategic hub for US and Australian forces. Key purposes include hosting up to six nuclear-capable B-52 bombers, facilitating reconnaissance missions with MQ-4C Tritons, and supporting advanced fighters like F-22s for regional deterrence and exercises.

By mid day Warburton was under attack, first hit was the air strip with the remaining choppers and one Harrier destroyed on the ground, the rest when airborn. Warburton city centre had been obliterated with bodies lying in destroyed homes and on the streets. Not a single alien craft had taken a hit, missiles simply bounced off the protective dome.

Tingle had been put on alert with bombers and jets now fully armed and loaded.

Before Canberra was attacked a visibly shaken President Stevensen had been on the telly saying his family were praying for every Australian. Then suddenly the screen went blank. The President survived a direct hit on the studio but scores of staff were killed.

All media services world wide were reporting the same space ships laying waste to cities in Europe, Asia, the Americas, even Africa. A meeting between all the major global leaders, including a patched up Stevensen was held via Sat fone. The obvious subject being how can we save our planet.

Hi Craig,

I noted your last post as below this morning in my email but I'm just seeing blank now in your post above?
I had a big update on my operating system and some things got changed!? It could be me?

There was no Skype or Zoom back in the 90s.

Wellam and Reeves arrived at the nearest downed chopper.
It was a wreck and all the crew were dead bar one unconscious and badly burnt woman.
Wellam got on the satelite radio to the base camp 15km away. There was a lot of unusual static but he managed to get through and spoke to Jenevieve Desaur asking to be picked up with a badly wounded helicopter crew survivor they were treating as best they could.

She told him of the global attacks,
"They're everywhere! We've Lost all our choppers and more. There's some untouched vehicles however, like Peter's old Land Rover."
Colonel Dunning piped in saying "I'm commandeering the Land rover with Peter's consent to send it your way with a Sergeant at Arms Turnbull and Lieutenant Senior Medic Ley with her bag of tricks.
Warburton is devastated. Almost totally with many dead. Let's see what Tingle does. I'm in that loop so I'll keep you up to date. Sorry about the static,
Hey Wellam, as an acclaimed Physicist,
what is your take on those force shields?" 🤔
and the static?
Our satelites?

I lo New
Wellham was pleased to hear the love of his life was safe. He had decided if they survived this catastrophy he was going to ask his wife for a divorce to marry Jenevieve.

When the medivac chopper with Jenevieve and nurses on board arrived shortly after, to his utter surprise she ran to Wellham and threw herself into his arms.

Richie I dreaded that you had been killed, when I heard your voice on the sat radio my heart jumped.

Mine too when I heard yours. I love you Jenevieve.

Oh cherie I have loved you since our first year working together in Nth Qld. But I had to keep my distance as I did not want to ruin your marriage.

They then quickly loaded the burnt woman and headed for Warburtons small base hospital which thankfully had only suffered minimal damage and only minor injuries to a nurse and an orderly. But other far more serious casualties were flooding in, some with appalling injuries having to lay on the floor as there were only minimal beds like all regional hospitals.

When Digger Reeves arrived at the second downed helicopter it was a burnt husk. All crew were dead but Digger was able to retrieve its black box.
Soon he heard the medical chopper which landed close by.
Digger jumped in greeting his friends and was soon back at base camp where Col Dunning greeted them as medics rushed the badly burned woman to the Field Hospital tent.

Arent we overlapping here Terry. I had the woman taken to Warburton hossie, you the field hossie. Dont we need to be on same page for fluidity.

Back to the main narrative, the alien invasion.
Kalgoorlie Hossie has a burns unit so all burns victims plus the worst patients were flown there via an air force Hercules. During he flite the pilot witnessed three Martian craft but inexplicably none attacked the Hercules. It was as tho the aliens knew there were only non combatants on board. The plane landed safely and by previous arrangement were met by hospital. Also surprisingly the town centre had suffered little damage. Curious and curiouser.
