THE CHRISTMAS THREAD.

All I want for Christmas this year is good health.
Remember Lilly the Pink with her medicinal compound from the sixties?

We'll drink a drink, a drink
To Lily the Pink, the Pink, the Pink
The savior of the human race
For she invented medicinal compound
Most efficacious in every case.

Christmas is steaming our way on Santa's magical train from the North Pole laden with presents for all the good boys and girls. Have you been good or naughty?

Yes it does ring a bell Terry.

I thought that'd ring a bell for you Craig being of a similar vintage as me.

Chris Rea, one of my favourite singers died recently at age only 74. He had been in poor health.
I have his best 32 rpm vinyls and here is one of his very best songs:

"Coming home for Christmas."

He was English from NE England, Middlesbrough.
Had you heard him or of him Jessica?

oh yes, Terry, she knows him. Who does not? While writing my previous post I was thinking of him and his almost life-long ordeal, which I wasn't aware of. Now I was shocked when I read what he'd been through forcing him to take 34 pills a day. 😲

For your Christmas present Jessica
For me it's health above all, which means our medical conditions shouldn't worse. That's all I want and need.

Must say I'm impressed by what you can still mobilise from childhood: Songs, poems, rituals, and the like. :thumbsu:
That's what's ironic about my memories Thomas, I can't remember what I ate for dinner 4 days ago, but long term is good and I surprise myself at times. I still remember some of the French and Latin I learned as a lad.

Well, adding some real-life information to our virtual party: I'd be interested to know how each of you is going to spend the next days.

Here's my plan:
24th (today): morning: gym, afternoon and evening: writing Christmas cards and wrapping up presents , picking up my MIL , distribution of presents, my daughters meeting up at their place

25th afternoon and evening: we'll be seven people with elder daughter and family plus my younger daughter (partner currently on business cruise on Indian ocean) coming to us, distribution of gifts

26th: wife and me relaxing alone at home

What's your plan?

35 pills a day! That's a lot. I read Chris Rea developed pancreatic cancer when he was only 33. I always thought that was a one way short drive. That was the case with one of my old colleagues. So good on Chris Rea for battling on for so long. He left us his wonderful music and songs.

When I'm well I take only 4 presciption tablets a day, plus a capsule of fish oil.

My Plan for Christmas day is to stay at home with the heat wave peaking at 42C with some cloud and humidity.
I'll be on the phone tho to my family over east.
Most of my festive catch ups were/are on either side of the hottest Christmas in 110 years. Best to be safe and fill up the Ice cube trays...
I've been so busy socially lately, it'd be nice to have a quiet day. I've got my bunch of Billiards mates all coming over on Saturday and 3 pencilled in other catch-ups.
With my family mostly East it's not the same I admit, but I don't get too lonely nowadays with all the ways we can communicate. A country mate 115km east and I had a good yarn today on the telling bone. And my 🐕.

I am still healthy and dont need medication. My last were for IBS and UTI but thankfully nothing serious. Knock on wood. I will continue to eat as healthy food as possible and do things that keep my little grey cells active.

Not much now my brother and SIL plus his son and wife moved some four hrs drive from us while my wife and her family are in a rift so we no longer get together for special occasions. So it will be only wife, son and I sitting down to an early Chrissie Day feast.🥺

I've had both those ailments too Craig; the IBS still visits me and I hope it'll pass again.
Less stress, a healthy diet and a healthy weight, exercise really helps. I got so crook from it once all from work stress I lost heaps of weight and could barely digest food properly.
The uti is common and it happens, been there, and the cure is simple unlike the dreaded IBS.
It's so important to keep those grey cells healthy Craig, I completely agree with you on that. Writing ✍️ for sure really helps especially with imagination, Reading and keeping organised with dates and routines.
How fast can you read? For me like most, it depends ...
I can skim read or go slow.
My favourite puzzle game helps to keep me sharp.
There's many good free ones if you can bear the Ads.

What is Christmas without a tree.

An America grown Douglas fir that we all decorated. Well done everyone.

Hey Craig, there's sparks coming from the fire ready to set fire to the rug and pouf and then onto our presents and the US groan Douglas fir.. Whoosh, crackle and bang ! !
Which box is mine? Quick, quick, get the presents ..! 🔥🌲

Oh hang on, now I see your cunning Craig, they re not flames but fairy lights. Phew!🫣

LED fairy lights I hope.😅

OK, I was being selfish before.

"I wish for the Salvation of Gaza".

Now, where is that Genie Lamp?
Is that it on the mantle piece?
Why dont you ask for the salvation of all occupied Palestinian territory. The Genie of the Lamp will grant you that Terry. Just rub the lamp and your wish will be fulfilled.

Who will be next to open their magic box and make a wish by rubbing my lamp and summoning me.
