Have fun!

Just heard on our news that a surfer has been killed in a shark attack in Sydney. That's awful and so sad. I hope no one goes out to kill the shark though as it is in its own territory.
Off one of our Northern Beaches Jessica. All Greater Sydney beaches are to be shark proof netted this summer. Unfortunately this attack happened before they were to be laid. Dont think sharks can differentiate between spring and summer water temps. Only our second shark fatality since the first 1963 I believe.

Hi everyone, Just a brief note before I sling my hook here on what is commonly called our sunshine island and that's Usedom. A lovely place with renowned seaside resorts where our last emperor used to reside, which is why they are also known as Imperial Spas. He knew why.
I biked most of the island from north to south covering up to 32 km a day and realised that I must be hopelessly out of touch with current developments since I'm one of the last Mohicans who doesn't ride an E-Bike.
There's all this talk about our coastal region in the north being as flat as a pancake but the isle is unexpectedly hilly and, sometimes, I had a hard time coping with it. On one occasion, I took the bike and hopped on a train that connects the major coastal towns. Weather's been fine.

Finally had my Birthday come Fathers Day outing. Started with a local brunch then a half hr drive to the National Park and a peaceful two hr kayak on the Hacking River. 🛶 Very relaxing even tho the paddling is rather tiring. What did you guys do for FD?

Isn't FD in May? Or is it celebrated when the weather is fine? Over here young men meet for a decent booze leading to all pubs being packed. The more mature generations tend to go about it more slowly. My brother and I used to meet up on the following day when the best places were accessible again.🤗

You got that right. The situation here is shocking. There are illegal immigrants everywhere. Kids are not safe going to school as schoolgirls have been followed and assaulted. There are our countrys flags flying everywhere in protest of them being housed in hotels at our expense, as well as demos and civil unrest. They should be claiming asylum in the safe countries that they pass through to get here. They are here for a free ride and our borders should be closed to them.

Is it the same over in Germany?
Absolutely the same over here. I couldn't agree more.

Wow! Your MOT seems very fussy Thomas.
Swapping tyres too must be a task!
Both are. I just didn't want to take any chances. Also had new tyres (all season) mounted. My daughter will be putting them to the test when taking part in a safe-driving training at the next weekend. On the following day, MOT including a full inspection is due.
I hadn't changed wheels for ten years or longer and was surprised at recent developments . Not only are wheels heavier, at least for me :D, but the way they are mounted has changed, too. I almost had to call someone for help since I simply couldn't remount the wheel. Eventually, I managed but had had to rack my brain . As often, if you know the trick, it'll work out fine...
Has anyone changed wheels recently?

Will reply tomorrow as am off soon to enjoy Fathers Day with my son.

Doing a push bike ride one day about 2 years ago I saw a fellow changing a flat tyre. Going home he was still there so I peddled over. The young man was really stuggling confessing he didn't know what he was doing. Having time to kill I took him through the process getting him to do most of the heavy work, loosening nuts and winding up the jack on the appropriate support strut. At the end I showed him how to tighten the nuts in a repeating star pattern.

I likewise taught my two daughters the same when they got their first cars. My eldest even got a rigid truck license too eventually. She's a great driver.
My youngest had the lead foot and nearly drove my old Mirage hatch into the ground denting three out of its four corners! 😄 She's better now having learned lots about mechanics. She even once fixed my broken kitchen oven!

As for e-bikes Thomas, they're all over my city and they're dangerous for riders and pedestrians. Deaths too.

Many e-bike riders here ignore the rules like wearing helmets, not riding down main roads nor freeways, not sticking to their speed limits, ... Some idiots tweak their motors so can travel at over 100km/h. Wild West Aussie ferals with diminished life expectancies.
One thing I know well from motorbikes is that wheel size matters which is very small on those e-bikes, small on petrol motor scooters too.

Once when driving my car at night I just saw an e-scooter with no lights, coming directly towards me on the wrong side of the road. I slowed right down and gave room to pass. That's when I saw the "three" boys on the e-scooter and not one was wearing a helmet. Stupid kids!
I wouldn't get one as I want exercise pedalling a bike through nice scenery like yourself.
