The simplyCricket Bat Clinic

Re: The simplyCricket Bat Clinic

Pretty much what you would call heartwood. Generally it means that the bat will have a darker piece of wood on the outside edge, as some people believe that with it being harder (in theory) it'll last longer.

Does depend though, some two tone bats may be split 50/50 in terms of dark/light wood, others just a thin bit towards the edge.

Re: The simplyCricket Bat Clinic

yeah the two-tone refers to heartwood, not sure of what benefit it has to a cricket bat's performance.

in terms of grains, theory goes that more grains (ie. narrow grains) will give you good performance soon after purchasing it, but it will have a shorter lifespan. Conversely wider grains will take more time to reach peak performance, but the bat will last longer.

again, this is what the common conception is, but every bat will behave differently.

Re: The simplyCricket Bat Clinic

if you look at most custom bats for the pro's they use the two tone on the edges and as has been said before supposedly harder?

My Custom County has 15 0r 16 Grains in it and has seen a hard season this year and has faired very well!

my cricket bat handle is wobbly it bends slightly at its neck and the pieces that that form the handle has separated a bit. what should be done. (the bat is not threaded and does not have any grippers at the moment)
