The X Factor

Just watching the Aussies one dayer tonight and our team looks very amateur. The reason for this call is its like watching Ponting and Clarke vs South Africa. These players I believe have the X factor or the ability to shine at the right moments or do extraordinary things. We need more players like this and we have them, problem is the selectors dont pick them.

Get these players in the side
- Phil Hughes (attacking opener)
- David Warner (attacking batsmen)
- Andrew Symonds (freakish allrounder)
- Jason Kreyja (a spinner who actually spins the ball)
These players have passion and why wait till theyre all 32 years old before we pick them.

Get rid of grandpa Haddin and get a young keeper in who can bat - I have to admit i haven't researched this area but his age is the main concern - get someone young in and let him develop, rather than getting 3 yrs out of an old guy. He is an alright keeper but theyre wasting younger talent.

Marsh surprised me tonight, but if these players perform well in domestic cricket then they certainly lack passion and look dissinterested in the international side and can't perform. Get these players out and stop wasting time:
- Hopes (what has he ever done)
- White (another spinner that cant spin)
- Hilfenhaus (medium pacer with no movement)
- Haddin (too old)

I want Warner in. We need a gilly like player who tears the opposition appart at times.
Marsh proved himself which is odd as he hasn't made a run all year.
The Husseys need to be in the middle oarder.
Haddin's footwork as a keeper is as bad as it gets and he misses runouts.
Hilfenhaus bowled too short today but there wasnt much swing today. He is a good bowler though.
Hopes isn't good enough as either a bowler or a batsmen but we need an allrounder in the side and the top rated two are injured. I would have played McDonald though.
White out Warner in.
We really do need a strike spinner in there. Moving the ball off the straight in any form of bowling is so important in cricket especially one dayers, if Krajzer performs at ODD level and becomes more economical then a big yes! But maby McGain for the World Cup...
Hughes I like as an option aswell. He could open the batting with Marsh and have Warner in the middle oarder. Don't forget Jaques but he has a long road back.

Get these players in the side
- Phil Hughes (attacking opener) - Not nearly as good in the shorter forms as he is in First Class. Will be in the Test side before the ODI side.
- David Warner (attacking batsmen) - Agreed.
- Andrew Symonds (freakish allrounder) - He's injured. Otherwise he'd be in the side.
- Jason Kreyja (a spinner who actually spins the ball) - Not the ODI side. Tests maybe.

- White (another spinner that cant spin) - The fact that you've said he should be dropped because of his bowling shows you have little idea what you're talking about. He's in the team because he is a batsman who can dart in a few quick leggies occasionally to eat up some overs.
- Hilfenhaus (medium pacer with no movement) - Hilfy is a fast medium pacer who is a fantastic swinger of the ball. Again, no idea what you're talking about.
- Haddin (too old) - Old. Not too old. Once a young keeper is doing anything to suggest he will put in equal or better performances to Haddin, THEN Haddin will be too old.

Again did nothing, no passion no better than an average player.

I know he was in for batting, but he was really our only spin option, and they didnt use him, they used hussey which just bowls slow straight balls.
He cant even field either, he panics. Hauritz is another example of a spinner they use that does nothing. Kreyja spins it and gets plenty of drift. He doesnt have much variation though but that will come when they play him more than a couple of times, he can swing the bat too, why not ODI?

- Hilfenhaus (medium pacer with no movement) - Hilfy is a fast medium pacer who is a fantastic swinger of the ball. Again, no idea what you're talking about.

Again showed he cant play on the big stage, no X Factor. Yes he seems to be able to show plenty of movement in domestic cricket but looks very amateur in international. Kept providing half volleys last night and basically handed the game to Sth Africa with his medium, nothing balls.

Also, Mike Hussey has completely lost it. All the talk was on Hayden in the tests, but noone realised how poor Hussey was going. He looks scared and has lost the drive he used to have. I like Hussey but you can tell he's empty.

I believe the X Factor in a player rises above what statistics show. Stats do help but if we keep selecting on just stats then we'll have a team like we have now in both tests and ODI. This is why we have lost the edge and passion that we used to have. Forget about whether they suit either tests or ODI, if you got the X Factor, passion, agression you'll be good in both forms no matter what the stats say. Symonds was a perfect example, who would have thought he could play tests.
