Re: Victorian team 2008/09

D Pattinson would be stiff to miss out on getting a run for the Vics.

Has had a very solid first season playing County cricket and did well for the vics at the end of the year.

McGain is a bit grey so might see the Vics push through some of their younger guys (Holland/Beer)

Ok, but who does D. Pattinson replace? Harwood maybe. See that D.Pattinson is in 30 man preliminary squad for England in Champions Trophy. Barely gets a game for Victoria.

McGain was almost playing for Australia, and still might do. Yes he is 36, but he has only played one full season of first class cricket.

Holland bowled 3 overs last year while Beer didn't even get a contract.

You'll see Wade given first crack this year over Crosthwaite in the 4-dayers.

Harwood is past it, Wright should replace him in that side, that would also add some extra batting to our lineup.

Wright in for Harwood would be the only change i'd make to that team.

Re: Victorian team 2008/09

Harwood should definately play the one dayers, Wright could replace McDonald as that side has 1 too many batsman and McDonald is not good enough to be relied on for 10 overs in a one day game

Mmm, but you would have White, D.Hussey, Hodge and McDonald to bowl 20 overs

3 part timers and an average all rounder to bowl 40% of the overs? Plus any left over when 1 of the pace bowlers gets injured/smashed

No thanks

We need 4 proper bowlers and any decent one day side has 4 proper bowlers

Hodge and Hussey can be effective when required, we dont want to be relying on them every game

what about gerard denton? is he likely to get much of a crack?

Gone back to Tasmania. He and Damian Wright switched teams during the off-season. Denton went back home to Tassie while Wright went to the Vics.

I'm sure he'll get a game at some stage with the injuries we'll probably get but he isn't first choice. He showed a bit in the shorter form of the game but in a couple of the Twenty20's he killed us.
