Heard a massive rumour that Craig McDermott will be pulling on the spikes to play at Yarraville Club. He has a business venture down in Melbourne that he is trying to get off the ground, hence him moving over here with business partners for the next few months. Where do they get this coin from

Hope for his sake this business does not got Bust like the property development one in Queensland, owes millions of $ to investors.

Re: VTCA Thread

Does anyone agree with me in that the paid players in the VTCA get a free ride from the umpires.
I have never seen one been given out LBW.
North based players get looked after better than the South.

Thats because half the North players are paid, but being Central , i think you are having a bit of a cry, whinge, moan. Having said that , it is a common symptom of being a South player.A recent survey showed that of the 127 lbw's given last year, that 45 of them were to the South sides, given that there are only 4 South sides, i think that your statement is a bit loose.

Nice one Statman, I guess that's why you are the "Statman"?? Everyone knows that the VTCA are always in the "South" sides corner. Even going back to the days of Di_khead McGuiness running the show. Don't even think about taking the "poor south sides" line here my friend. All umpires are cheats!!!!

Thats the way guys pick on the umpires, All local comps are struggling to get umpires and statements like "all umpires are cheats" is part of the reason. I think they do a great job. Standing out in the heat on a Saturday afternoon and not being thanked for it. Just think if there where no so called "cheating umpires" the players would have to umpire the game, then you would see who the real cheats are.

Re: VTCA Thread

Statman, as the great Homer Simpson once said:
"Oh, people can come up with statistics to prove anything. 14% of people know that."

When you have one of the Ken's or Lindsay turn down yet another appeal against Baker, Brown and co when they are plumb in front, you wonder why do you bother

Don't you guys ever think of the wickets you got when the batsman didn't hit it. What goes around comes around.

They don't get thanked for it? How about the coin they get? My boss doesn't come and thank me when I leave work everyday.

Next season I'm more than happy to go up to them at the end of the day and thank them. As long as that means they forfeit their money and we can put it over the bar on our end of season trips.

Fair go............ You are obviously a "batsmen"?? I can tell you that there is nothing more frustrating than bustin ya a_se in the heat, to have a batsmen dead in front, only for the apeal to be knocked back because the batsmen is a "high profile" player is crap!!! I have seen it many times over the last 16 years as a 1st cricketer in this comp!! Time for the umpires to get fair dinkum!!! And I always will chat to them over a beer, just not for long if they have "performed" ordinary.

Cry baby , as the great Homer Simpson once said " Son , when you participate in sporting events, its not whether you win or lose , its how drunk you get "

If you are any good, you will hit the stumps...or you will get a few LBW's as we did in rd 3 last season, if my memory is correct ! And although we lost , i got ************** {refer homer quote}

Re: VTCA Thread

All we ask for is consistency, wether they are good or bad isn't the issue. It becomes a problem when they are good one week & terrible the next. There are a few umps in the VTCA that wont give an LBW all day & then they will pull one out of their a-se that's not even close, it's frustrating.

Re: VTCA Thread

Is this a rumour or serious? does anyone know if this is 20% likely of 70%? Might go overseas if it is..

If i understand right, does stage 4 water restrictions mean ZERO water- hence no cricket?

Re: VTCA Thread

Did 5 mins of research.. From various govt. websites..

What are the water storage trigger levels for Stage 4 water restrictions to be introduced?
The water trigger levels for Stage 4 water restrictions to be introduced are:

January 29.3%
February 29.3%
March 29.3%

Reservoir Capacity Current Volume ( ML ) % Full
Thomson 1,068,000 280,370 26.3
Upper Yarra 200,000 152,589 76.3
O'Shannassy 3,000 2,690 89.7
Maroondah 22,000 14,075 64.0
Sugarloaf 96,000 60,660 63.2
Yan Yean 30,000 6,267 20.9
Greenvale 27,000 16,674 61.8
Silvan 40,000 36,152 90.4
Cardinia 287,000 131,648 45.9
Total 1,773,000 701,125 39.5

So at the moment, we are at 39.5% if we get down to 29.3 that's stumps..

Melbourne water is something like close to 10% down on this times last year, so I think we are in big big trouble around December-January time

Re: VTCA Thread

According to Avondale Heights website, they have signed another Sri Lankan in Sathpath Kelum.

President is hell bent on winning a premiership - no matter what the cost it seems.

M Albers, W Suares, T Jeffrey, D Popov and now Sathpath Kelum.

A high quality top order bat is very unhappy according to my sources. Could be gone if not this season then next.
