Wasim Jaffer - The quiet Indian

I recently read this article/interview of him. He seems like hes jealous and bitter because he didn't sell for enough in the IPL. I dont know who the heck he thinks he is. The only aspect of him which is comparable to Laxman, Dravid or Kumble is that hes not flashy or flamboyant. Otherwise he is nowhere near their class. He has clearly flopped everywhere except on dead wickets. He is clearly taking a shot at people like Dhoni, Yuvraj, Sreesanth etc. IMO he should concentrate more on his cricket than criticizing others because they look better than him. I dont think he deserves to be in the test team. Gambhir would be a much better option.

Re: Wasim Jaffer - The quiet Indian

Bloody hell. Of coarse crickets pay attention to their hair and clothes, it's the modern era, you loser. He thinks his so good, pointing out his record and all. I'd like to speak to him and remind him of his tour of Australia.

Re: Wasim Jaffer - The quiet Indian

Its like he is purposely ignoring that he fails each time there is a hint of grass on the pitch. I know he has 2 double centuries but both were on flat tracks. He's also saying that he can score quickly and he'll prove a point in IPL. He's just coming across as an idiot to me.

Re: Wasim Jaffer - The quiet Indian

well if he does make an impact then he can always say i told you so if not then the people arent going to remember it anyway. he might be similar in personality to kumble or laxman but comparing him to them is just ridiculous.

Re: Wasim Jaffer - The quiet Indian

Harsh but true, Jaffer is terrible on a pitch with even the slightest lateral movement. How can India persevere wth someone like that?

Re: Wasim Jaffer - The quiet Indian

I think he just manages to get runs at the right time due to which he has managed to stay in the team longer than he should have. He was close to being dropped in South Africa in 2006 but he managed to score a 100 in the third test on a flat track and then followed it up with a hundred in the 2nd Test against Bangladesh. That made it difficult to drop him. Then he got a double hundred on the flattest of tracks against Pakistan which ensured his place in the team for some more time until he was eventually dropped for the fourth Test against Australia. I don't understand why he was brought back in the team for the series against South Africa but he got a 73 in the first test and I think that ensures that he's going to play in the rest of the series and unless he fails in the rest of the series, I'm afraid we are going to see more of Jaffer.

Re: Wasim Jaffer - The quiet Indian

he failed miserably in the test match. it shows that he is not the right opener for india. i hope selectors open their eyes and see that.

Re: Wasim Jaffer - The quiet Indian

I hope they do. Gambhir and Chopra have done well enough in domestic cricket to deserve another chance.

Re: Wasim Jaffer - The quiet Indian

how can jaffer say he is a attacking player...even in tests he scores at less than 50...he should be thankful he is even in the team....gambhir should play

Re: Wasim Jaffer - The quiet Indian

though i want india to do win the match im hoping that jaffer gets a pair. that will make sure he is not picked for further tours and much deserving batsmen are given opportunity.

Re: Wasim Jaffer - The quiet Indian

I can see that happening but for India's sake I hope he scores runs or at least plays a supporting role by staying at the wicket.

Re: Wasim Jaffer - The quiet Indian

not quite a duck but still a failure. i hope the selectors realize his worthlessness now.

Re: Wasim Jaffer - The quiet Indian

Poll added to the thread. I think the selectors will drop him for the next series but who should replace him?

Re: Wasim Jaffer - The quiet Indian

Replacing Jaffer will happen with Gautam Gambhir performing in ODI's & 20/20.
He has found favour from no end.
He has the ability to play slowly and takes time to build u his inngs.
During the Tour to England in 2007;He was advised by Team Manager-Chandu Borde to do a bit of Skipping before batting but still he is the same.
Jaffer's Future is uncertain.

Re: Wasim Jaffer - The quiet Indian

Gambhir should replace Jaffer. He has done so well in both ODI and T20. He deserves another chance. He is more likely to score runs than Jaffer.

Re: Wasim Jaffer - The quiet Indian

Gambhir has the potential but he still hasnt impressed at the Test level in trying conditions. But Gambhir should be the first choice because he has been doing well in other formats of the game.

Re: Wasim Jaffer - The quiet Indian

until a few games ago jaffer was the main opener for india...only after sehwag made centuries he became the number 1 opener again and then jaffers spot was in danger but i think selectors still think jaffer is regular opener for india and if he makes runs i think he will still be in the test team..
