Who has televison rights ??

Re: Who has televison rights ??

I'd say Nine would cover it. We'd get all the games involving Australia and a few select games (i.e the really good games).

If Foxtel does get some games, they'll get all the rest. Don't know if Foxtel will get the rights to cover some games or not.

Re: Who has televison rights ??

The Cricket World Cup is currently on the Anti-Siphoning list for Sport on Television, so a free-to-air network will get it. It would be hard to see Channel Nine not getting it, they love the World Cup.

Fox will show the games of course, but Channel Nine will be the free-to-air provider.

It would be good for SBS to pick up some games though, but highly unlikely

Re: Who has televison rights ??

I think Foxtel will cover international matches not involving Australia and when Australia play poor teams. Nine will show the big Aussie matches.

Re: Who has televison rights ??

Fox Sports are showing EVERY game Live, i am still unsure about free-to-air coverage at this stage. I'd imagine a lot of it would be on FTA, similar to the previous couple of World Cups.

I am trying to find out though.

Re: Who has televison rights ??

Channel Nine HAVE got the Free-to-Air Coverage of the Cricket World Cup. Still not sure what games they would be showing, i hope it is similar to previous world cups - but FTA television coverage of most sporting events has changed a lot since the last world cup, that i wouldn't be surprised if it was just Australian games, semi-finals and final.

but who knows...

Re: Who has televison rights ??

EchoStar and Sony Entertainment Television (SET) have TV rights for ICC World Cup 2007.

World Cup on Channel Nine

basically coverage on Channel Nine won't begin until the Super Eights stage of the tournament. The first round games will obviously be seen with the new dictators of Australia: Fox Sports :(

i can understand channel nine not wanting to show the games against Scotland and Netherlands, but the game against South Africa will be enourmous, and sadly only 20% of the population will get to see it.

Bad news for Free to Air TV (FTA) viewers, none of Australia's group matches (which includes Australia's game against South Africa) will be televised on Free to Air TV.

Channel 9, who hold the rights to the World Cup on FTA TV, will commence their telecast during the Super Eight stage of the tournament and will also telecast Semi-final One and also the final.

Meanwhile, Foxtel will telecast all games over four of its channels.

This is bad news for FTA viewers. Pretty poor from Channel 9 not to show any of Australia's qualifying games. This means that only 20% of Australia's population will see their team's first few games.

Disappointing for Australia's FTA cricket fans.

Re: Who has televison rights ??

Channel Nine would be a bit upset if Australia finish 2nd in their group. That means they would only show ONE of their Super-Eight matches. But they will show all 4 if they finish 1st.

And only One Semi-Final too? So if Australia finished 1st or 4th in the Super-Eight stage they wouldn't show the Australian Semi-Final.

Their choices for matches astound me a bit.

Re: Who has televison rights ??

And Doordarshan will be thrilled, celebrating all the way to the bank if India make it to the Final again!

Re: Who has televison rights ??

Worst news for FTA viewers (or regular cable viewers) in Canada. We get 0 coverage of anything. I can pay $179.99 to watch on a digital channel. I think I have to do it :(
