An Australian multimedia designer is starting a movement to get a Cricket game made for Wii. So far, he has contacted EA, created a website, and put together a promo video. It looks like a good number of Aussies are behind him, too. EA already makes a Cricket Game, so I can’t see it being terribly impossible for them to port this to Wii. Are any of our international Infendonians out there interested in a Wii Cricket game?

I know its an old article but cricket on the wii would be awesome. Sounds superb, Any more news on this?

Re: Wii Want Cricket

I notice the article suggests 'porting' a current cricket game to the wii. IMO this would be a terrible idea, the game would need to be built from the ground up and developed solely for the wii if it was going to be able to fully take advantage of the wii-mote technology. However, if we ever get anything I fear it will be just a slapdash port of a console/pc version. There just won't be enough money in it to do it how it should be done.

EDIT: Also, the site that article links to appears to be no more. So much for wiiwantcricket :(

Re: Wii Want Cricket

All the pieces are in place, from the wiimote to the balance board (or whatever te wii fit thing is called) but it'll still take a developer to risk it.

Most likely thing we'll see is a port of some other game, which doesn't really inspire high hopes.

Re: Wii Want Cricket

it would be pretty cool but one on the ps3 would be better, especially if it took use of the 6axis controllers. i'm not sure how it would go on the wii, would it be possible to play an on-drive just to the right of the mid off fielder? or would it end up being swing the wii-mote in the general direction and you would get a standard shot that goes the same place every time, like ea cricket 07's century stick? i would much prefer it if they made century stick much more accurate and the ability to move a six-axis or wii-mote into the shot to allow foot movement, so that way for example you could clear your front foot, lean away from the shot and hoick something over mid wicket hack style, or come forward to the pitch of the ball and dab the ball through the covers or behind square with an attacking block. not sure if you get what i mean, but that would be my ideal batting game.

Re: Wii Want Cricket

The reason I can't see Cricket happening on Wii anytime soon is that most of the Wii's market is in Japan and Cricket isn't very popular there. A Wii Cricket game might drive up their sales in England (If it sells there) but that's a BIG risk on its own.
