Wolf's games for Wolverhampton CC

Round up of my games this season. I posted them on another forum and have converted the posts to here.

I play for our 5th team, in the Staffordshire league.

We lost by 3 wickets. I got 1 batting at 7, and bowled 2-0-14-0[/quote:8041f]

Incredible game for me. We lost by one wicket. I opened the batting (yikes!) on the worst bouncing pitch I have ever seen. It just didn't bounce at all. I got 26 off 47 balls, which was the joint highest score in the match, equal with their opener. We collapsed after I got out, bowled out for 97 (40 over match). We knew we had a chance defending with this pitch though and we got so close, but their keeper was a old head and pulled them through. Just one more wicket..... [/quote:8041f]

Won by 100 runs. We made 186, and then bowled them out for 86. I made 18 batting at no.5. One of our bowlers took 4 wickets in an over! [/quote:8041f]

We won today as well, we got bowled out for 150. I got 15 (9 off the first over) but one ball bounced up a bit and I edged behind.

We had them 8-6 in reply, but we bowled all our s**t bowlers after that, and they got up to 80 odd. [/quote:8041f]

We won, despite my duck. We got bowled out for 105 in 46 overs, so they got 54 overs to score 106. We took wickets at regular intervals (I amended my duck a bit by getting a run out to get the second wicket, and if I may say so an eletric fielding performance) and when we took the 9th wicket their last wicket pair needed to score about 25 in 10 overs, or bat it out for the losing draw. They managed to whittle it down to 8 runs off 2 overs before our mid-on took what was probably the catch of the season to win the match. [/quote:8041f]

We got hammered. Really depressed! [/quote:8041f]

Great win today! 40 over game. They only had 9 players and won the toss and batted. Their openers looked really good and were on 45-0 off 10 but then they collapsed to 69-7, our skipper getting 5 wickets, and our new legspinner on debut getting 2 wickets. Then their last wicket pair managed to get them to 106 all out.

We were struggling on 14-1 after 10 overs, but our new legspinner showed he could bat too and hit the ball around nicely. We were 45-1 at drinks (20 overs, incidentally with me umpiring for those 20) but our opener got out soon afterwards. Our no.3 got out about 10 runs later. Our no.5 got 8 before departing bring me to the crease. I think we needed about 40 off 14 overs. I did a couple of nice cut shots to get a brace of two's to settle myself, and we were up with the run rate needing about 20 to win when the no.4 got out. Our keeper came in who is a second team player on a Saturday and run for everything, I had a few close shaves! I run myself out for 13 (a good direct throw from mid-on) with 10 needed. We added another 5 before our skipper got bowled with 9 balls left. Got a couple of singles at the end of the over so we needed 4 off the last over win. Our keeper got another dodgy single off the first ball, which really should have been run-out, and then he then called his partner thorugh to the most suicidal single ever and his partner got run out. He then had a big heave at the next ball and missed. 3 balls left, but then he forced the next ball over point for four and we won!

Phew! [/quote:8041f]

We lost again. We were in a good posistion at one stage as well. Lost the toss batted first on a damp tack. Got a really slow start but kept wickets in hand and got up to a decent total of 153. I got 15 not out coming in at no.8.

We had them 100-6, but couldn't get those last wickets and they got them for seven wickets down. I took my first catch in what I think is two years! [/quote:8041f]

Craaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaap.

Is what we can describe that match. We bowled them out for 146, we got out for 110. They had one guy that made 78 really quick that made all the difference. [/quote:8041f]

WHAT A WIN TODAY.

Turned out to be a great sunny day, lost the toss and had to bowl. Got them about 25-4, but a slogger came in and got lucky, ball never fell to us. They got up to about 100-7, and then their last 3 wickets hung around and they got all out for 148. That only took them 30 overs, so we got 20 extra overs, so we had 70 overs to get the runs. I even got a bowl (I have only bowled 4 overs all season before today) and my figures were 5-0-24-1. I bowled the guy the ball after he hit me for six!

We were confident we would chase that, we had a few wobbles but got there. Our opener hit a good 50, but wickets fell around him, and one of our batters had to retire hurt. When we lost him and our skipper in the space of two overs so we were 115-6 (effectively for seven). I came in at no.9 (lowest posistion this season grr) and me and the no.8, just decided to see it through (we had about 35 overs left!) as we didn't have any real batters to come. And we did just that, taking about 15 overs to get 35 runs we needed. I finished on 22 not out.[/quote:8041f]

Another win yesterday.

Batted first on a really grassy track that made the ball jag sideways. Anyway our skipper (primarily a bowler) opened and top scored! 50 partneship for first wicket but took 20 overs and then there was a middle order collapse. I came in at no.7 and me and no.6 took us from about 90 to 130 before we both got out after trying to slog it out of the ground. Our tail took us to 167 all out in the last over.

Our bowlers did the business well, and we bowled them out for 106 to win by 61 runs. I think I fielded in loads of posistions. I think they were:

deep cover
cover
point
square leg
silly mid off
gully
fly slip
slip
short leg
mid wicket
