Worst way to get out?

what is the worse way to get out?

i think it's being bowled as it gives the bowler a lot of confidence and it normally means you mised the ball :embarrassed: if not that then it has to be run out by your team mate

who ever gets out obstructing the field? or timed out

did i do the poll right?

Re: Worst way to get out?

For some reason I find being stumped incredibly annoying, I like to try and use my feet and get a good stride in against spin, but when it goes wrong you end up looking like a plonker and it's not great fun. Getting bowled is fine if you get a good ball, but if it's your fault then it's very annoying, like playing across the line to a straight one, I did that a few times last season.

Re: Worst way to get out?

LBW - I hate that because I get a lot of crap decisions. Everytime the ball hits my pads my heart is in my mouth.

Re: Worst way to get out?

Lol, imagine you are in the toilet while a few quick wickets have fallen and you get timed out. It nearly happened once when India were playing South Africa. Sachin was not allowed to bat because he had been off the field for a long time so he had to compensate for it. I think Laxman was in the toilet and Ganguly wasnt padded. It took a long time for him to come out but the opposition didnt appeal.

I hate to be clean bowled because its the most satisfying for a bowler and a dreadful sight for the batsman.

Re: Worst way to get out?

Same, that death rattle is sometimes just to much for my fragile little mind! :D

Either that or run out. Seeing the ball coming in with no way that you can make your ground is really terrible

Re: Worst way to get out?

I hate getting out LBW, when you get hit on the pads you're never in a position to know yourself how close it was so you have to take the umpires word for it. I don't think I've ever talked to anyone who thought they were plumb LBW after a dismissal. Can you imagine anyone walking on an LBW appeal :)

Re: Worst way to get out?

Has to be a run out, Iam in the mid set of your wicket is not worth risking, but unfortunately bad decisions from either player can swing a game for a side who may not look that threatening!

Stumpings re the best! i think they count as a wicket keepers tool not the bowlers! i have to do all the sodding work!

:D

Re: Worst way to get out?

The worst I had was run out. It was the last ball, we were 232-8 off 39.5 overs, and the other guy was a bowler who fancied himself as a bit of an all-rounder. I was on strike, and wandered down the pitch to tell him that no matter what, we might as well attempt a run, put the fielders under pressure and see if it pays off - the worst that could happen is a runout, but that doesn't matter as it's the last ball. Anyway, I mistime the shot, and it dribbles to mid-on. I start the sprint down the pitch, only to get there and find him still stood there looking at me: "There was never a run there, I need to protect my average" he said in the dressing room as I pummelled his head in with a bat in the safety of my mind.

I really hate getting run out by guys like that!

Re: Worst way to get out?

Thats really pathetic! You should have smacked him for real.
I hate run outs but only if its not my fault. Other than I hate getting bowled because its means that I got comprehensively beaten.

Re: Worst way to get out?

Believe me, I'd have loved to, but he's quite a bit bigger than I am, so common sense prevailed. ;)

I'm not actually all that bothered by being run out by someone else, as long as they genuinely thought there was a run there and didn't do something stupid like shout "YESYESYESRUN!" and then not move a muscle. I'm not always the happiest when that happens. On the whole though, I'm not a great judge of a run myself, so I have to have sympathy for others like me!

Re: Worst way to get out?

I'm doing it on the only ways I've gotten out in my career, and it has to be run out. To know that you could've easily prevented it is annoying. I got out about 3 times last year run out.

Re: Worst way to get out?

Getting out by playing on is pretty bad, especially when you realise the bat is rolling towards the stumps but you can't react in time to stop it.

Re: Worst way to get out?

yea i guess there is nothing worse than trying to cut and wiping out your own stumps!

Re: Worst way to get out?

Hmm, I think getting bowled by a ball that you decided to leave must be up there. You look a complete prat standing there with the bat in the air and your stumps a mess behind you :embarrassed:

I suppose though, unless you have no clue where your off stump is, this is only going to happen with a pretty good ball - so in some cases maybe it's not too bad.

Re: Worst way to get out?

I've seen a few people leaving a straight one and losing their middle stump, very embarrassing for them but very funny for everyone else.

I have seen one myself and it was funny for everybody. All three stumps down and keeper had to jump behind t save his head.
Unfortunately;the batsmen was our number 11.
