Your season goals

Re: Your season goals

Yeah - restricting runs is a big issue, that's the bit that will concern me if I get the psychology wrong. It's something I've got to learn to deal with and I'm not going to know until the season starts whether I'm still going to be put off my stride by being knocked all over the park! But I'm listening and learning and taking on all the advice you blokes give me - so I'm hopeful and optimistic.

Re: Your season goals

Dave, honestly, if you get knocked around, i for one will do my hardest for you to correct it, but by the sounds of it, you generally can land the ball in the right area, and you can spin it, you're working on your leg break, which is vital. So i see no reason why not, you should be taking 20 wickets and more at a healthy rate.

Re: Your season goals

I had a look on the play cricket website at our team's stats for last season and our best wicket taker is a Leg Spinner. His total was 28 for the season. But he plays Saturday and Sunday - so that sounds like an attainable figure. Maybe I should be looking at his other stats to make a more relevant comparison as I'm never going to be playing in as many games as him?

Re: Your season goals

How many games did he play? Might give you an idea of how many you shoul be looking to aim for?

Generally I look to take 2 wickets per match (normally bowl 10 overs, 4-6 at the start of the innnings, maybe 1 or 2 in the middle then the rest right at the death).

Re: Your season goals

i want to get over 30 (my highest score is 29* :cry), then hopefully go on to 50, that and chip in with maybe a wicket or so a game. And by the end of the season get into districts

Re: Your season goals

Batting:
- average 10-15
- reach 25 (retirement score) in our 20Twenty comp
- hit my first 6 against adults
- make a good contribution in a 50 over match

Bowling:
- average <20
- take 20 wickets in 50over matches, 35 in all cricket
- economy <4.00 rpo
- take another 5fer or two

Overall:
- get into regional squad
- get into 1st XI at school
- earn promotion with my club side

I think those goals are reasonable but a lot will depend on a dry summer!! Good luck with your goals guys.

Re: Your season goals

Seeing as its getting to that time of the year again..

Batting - Score at least two 50's (this could be a tough one)

Bowling - try not to damage my back further, pick the pace back up and try to get 30 - 35 league wickets (I may well revise this after seeing the standard of cricket around here).

Also, integrate myself with my new club, whoever that may be at the moment.

Go for it master blaster - keep us posted how it goes - we want a game by game break down as you reach your final 100!
Unfortunately i dislocated my elbow and couldnt play for the last 2 games :( it is still healing.

Re: Your season goals

I managed 11 wickets and 61 runs in my debut season so will be looking for an improvement on that this season. My pace has improved greatly since last season, as has my batting, so i'll be looking at aiming for 25-30wickets over the whole summer, if i can get close to that i'll be well chuffed. In terms of runs, i'd love to hit my first ever fifty, made a not out 28 last season so it was a pretty decent high score for my first season, i'd also like to hit my first 6 :D
