How much did Rosanna pay the umpires. The best player was given out LBW after he actually hit the ball.Talk about ruining a great game of cricket. Its a joke!!!
As for Rosanna they are done & dusted & on there way to DVCA.. Good riddance i say. DVCA is an overated competition. Nth Heidelberg wont be around next year, dont know where you get your info from beergarden.

It was such a shame for Lasith to be given out like he was for a few reasons, there was a fair crowd at Cotchin on saturday that would have loved to watch one of this years Kevin Braddy medalist go battle in what could be the last time people watching local cricket gets to see a unique player of his calibre roll around, disappointing for the bergers in the context of the game and disappointing becuase of the poor umpiring, the ball before there was a large appeal for LBW against Ridewood which was put down and the very next ball Rosanna, more so the thrower Slater, let out a ridiculous appeal for LB when Lasith was watching the ball trickle down to fine leg. The umpire obviously felt imtimiated by the appeal and who was at the crease and gave him out. Shattering for everyone watching that game from a distance as we wanted to see what the Lasith bloke could do agaisnt a quality bowling line up in such a high pressure sitiuation

Good riddance to Rosanna if they wish to go DV, im glad to see they have looked into how strong former HDCA clubs in the past have gone to the Diamond Valley and have had their numbers of teams and players be slashed in half.

If this is true than let the bloodbath begin, i cant imagine viewbank cc, west heidelberg cc, Nhcc and the like continue..

The next question we must move onto now is what happens to

Rosanna, Heidelberg, Banyule, Rosebankers, Edinbourgh and East Ivanhoe?

ECA and BHRDCA circling...

Know a bloke who plays at Viewbank. He told me that they were going to move to the North Metro for next season.

I thought he was talking crap, but after what you guys are saying here, looks like he was telling the truth.

Hanz Lowman - "Good riddance to Rosanna if they wish to go DV."

You don't really think those things at all!

Very interesting times. With the NCL proposal effectively neutered at the moment, you could indeed be on the money.....Mr bank

Question is would they be interested, if I can play devil's advocate? East Ivanhoe have entered teams in the ECA in the past haven't they?

I think absolutely they'd be silly not to be interested. Banyule, Heidelberg, EI and Edinburgh have 20+ senior teams between them (not to mention 25 (?) junior teams) and correct me if I'm wrong, but I think a couple of those clubs had veterans teams play in the BHRDCA a few seasons ago?

Heidelberg and Banyule are literally on the doorstep of the BHRDCA, whilst EI are just across the Eastern, and Edinburgh are only a short trip along the Eastern from most of the ECA clubs.

It is sad that the HDCA is going to fall apart because it's best clubs are as good as any park cricket clubs in Melbourne. However, it will prove to be a huge fillip for at least two, and maybe three, other suburban competitions.

I could honestly say i would speak on behalf of the rest of the HDCA (or what was the HDCA), everyone is going to enjoy watching Rosanna be swallowed up by the DV never to be seen again

Comments that refer to player numbers at clubs being "slashed" when such clubs have moved to the DVCA are mischevious and false as a cause, to say the least. If Rosanna are leaving, then I suppose we are going to read all sorts of fairy tales, just like when the slime left. Can't remember if Macleod copped such nonsense when they left, probably. :confused:

I hope the future for the HDCA and/or it's member clubs is full of viable options.

Whatever eventuates MB, I can only wish the HDCA the best. Great comp, clubs and people!

Rosanna voted to go DVCA tuesday night. Now other HDCA clubs now have to decide which competition to play in to best suit them?
Edinburgh = ECA
Banyule = DVCA / ECA
Heidelberg = DVCA
Rosebank = Nmca
Thats the way clubs will go. Its unfortunate that a really good comp is gone. But as soon as some on the board, decided to look after their own clubs first, and the comp second, it was always going to be curtains. I can see that NMCA will be the beneficiary out of all this. Who knows what other clubs are doing. Good luck to all clubs whichever way they decide to go. RIP HDCA!!

How strong is the HDCA? Surely if there are only 15 clubs it can't be that good?

Didn't Clifton Hill leave the HDCA in the early-2000s? And whilst they've been in ECA Macgibbon (ie 1sts) Shield since 2004/05, after starting in 2nd grade and their supporters starting a few fights at GFs, they are yet to play finals in Shield and generally battle to avoid relegation.

Can't see ECA clubs like Boronia and Heathmont being overly impressed with having to travel to North Fitzroy to play Edinburgh. And the ECA themselves are far more interested in the SDCCL merger which is back on the table and likely to get up at the next vote.

Highly doubt BHRDCA being remotely interested in reducing the high standard of their comp by accepting HDCA clubs.

No one believes that HDCA has the depth of other competitions (or at least, the depth that other competitions spruik that they have), but I think you only have to look at the quality of the players in the top four or five teams to recognise that they will only improve whatever competition they join.

- Rosebank lack depth but have two stars, one who would still be playing District cricket if he wanted to.
- Edinburgh have two players with District cricket experience as well as a number of others who have played District 2's and sub district cricket
- Rosanna are pretty much the same as Edinburgh with one player who has playe District 1's as well as at least a couple of others who have played District 2's.
- Heidelberg of course had a first class cricketer from Sri Lanka play for them this season, three blokes who would hold their own in any suburban competition, as well as one young bowler who will be an absolute star if he stays in park cricket.

I guarantee you that at least three of the above teams will finish higher than mid table in whatever competition they play next year (provided line up's stay similar to this season, obviously). If any of them don't immediately play A grade (i.e. Macgibbon) in that competition, then a flag will be there's unless they choke.

West Heidelberg, East Ivanhoe and Viewbank are a different matter though, and would be unlikely to challenge in any A Grade competition unless they recruit heavily.

Fair enough, thanks for the background.

Yes, every comp is the strongest in their own eyes.

Do you know why Clifton Hill left HDCA? Were there behaviour problems within HDCA or did they leave for competitive reasons?

Standard isn't as issue, the top 5 really strong clubs in the HDCA would be more than competitve in any local cricket comp.

Clifton Hill, not to sure why they left. Don't believe it was for competitive reasons, more so playing against clubs that used to muck up (eg Olympic Colts), most are no longer part of the HDCA.
