Does having a bye need to be a bad thing? Assuming all clubs in both Barclay and Money have reserves which will also have byes, why not fixture each team a friendly. The Barclay Shield team plays Money Reserve & vice versa. Possibly the silliest idea ever heard on here, but might have some merit?
No I think a bye is not a bad thing to have at all. But this would purely be based on no more teams coming in. I think it would be explored by the exec before a 3rd division was introduced.

Just thought it more unlucky than anything that if a 3rd division was introduced after all other options looked at, the 5th positioned team in Money Shield could be relegated depending on the split. And the way it is positioned at the moment could be by chance 1 of the new teams.

I believed they had signed a leg spinner named Mat Hewat (ex Hawthorn/Monash) as captain coach (from their website couple of months ago) but their website is now saying Wunhym's captain coach again this year. Sounds like its all a bit up in the air at Mont at the moment.

Maybe Wunhym got asked and declined?? Trav Hand is a very very good player and did coach one of the U/16 teams for the DVCA over summer. Whale is wily and cranky. Perfect captain material!!

They did have an agreement with Hewat but he got a better offer back at Hawthorn, Trav Hand is coaching & Whale captain

I think its great Camrea got in, it will help the DVCA become a stronger comp in years to come. My understanding is clubs will no next month of all changes for the coming season.

I think the DVCA has been very good on letting the clubs know whats going on with Camrea trying to enter the comp. They have given the clubs a month do make there minds up which way they will vote you cant be any fairer then that..

Good luck to Camrea cant wait to see what they can offer the Dvca and watch them play.

Whats is Camrea's ground like? Which current A grade ground can it be compared to?

Main Street Reserve, Thomastown - Thomastown's footy ground.

I can only spek when we played footy there last year but it was in very good nick in terms of grass cover.

Only been there 2 or 3 times so not really sure who you'd compare it to in terms of dimensions, maybe Epping. It's similar square of the wicket but main st not as long from memory..

Well, if it has good grass cover and a bit of character then it sounds a good addition to the comp.
On the same topic how are the other grounds looking, they seems to be getting progressively worse, are the lower grades in danger of having no where to play?

Re: DVCA: Player movements and rumours

Eltham are trading Whitey to Lower Eltham for a 3 old bails (odd ones too). We will even throw in pop as a sweetener!

Re: DVCA: Player movements and rumours

RULES CHANGE RUMOURS:

D grade to move to 80 overs as per C grade. Will start round 1 and 1st week after Christmas.

D grade with 14 teams to follow similar format to Money with 7 x 2 dayers and 6 one day games.

4 piece ball almost certian to come in for top grades ( Barclay, Money &
reserves). Ball cost $40, up from $25.50.

Looking forward to next Wednesday night

Sounds good, now all they have to do is bring in bowling restrictions for one dayers (either 4x10 or 5x8) and we're sweet.

Can anyone confirm that Pavey is actually staying at Greensborough this season?

I'm pretty sure he's gone back to plenty, apparently to play in the 2nds, i'd take short odds he'll be plaing in the 1sts before xmas......

I think Ray Kelsey has taken over as coach of greensborough.

As for Jamie Davis leaving, that would leave a big hole in there batting, with snowy going as well.
Can't blame blokes for leaving to coach though, if that's the path they choose you need to take the opportunity when it comes along.

Mernda to be re-named Swiss Cheese CC. More holes than can be covered for mine.

Expect bottom 2 finish.
