Super Eights - New Zealand vs West Indies

This game is well underway. New Zealand won the toss and chose to field first. Windies are currently 52/1 after 14 overs.

The out batsman, S. Chanderpaul caught styris if the bowling of Bond for 4 runs,he certainly lost his wicket cheaply. Gayle and Sarwan are currently at the wicket, with Gayle on 34 and Sarwan on 12.

Sarwan just lost his wicket, Sarwan drives, but the bat comes outside the line as the ball moves in a touch, clips the inside-edge and it flies to the left of McCullum who dives full stretch to take a beauty of a catch. He contributed 19 runs.

Gayle is now on 40, Samuels is the new batsman
68/2 after 18 overs.

Re: Super Eights - New Zealand vs West Indies

80/3 after 21.3 overs, Samuels just got out.
New Zealand are definitely putting the pressure on the Windies.
Brian Lara is at the crease. Hopefully he and Gayle could put on a partnership. At this stage they certainly need it, if they have any hope of winning this match.

Re: Super Eights - New Zealand vs West Indies

Oram gets Gayle for 44, his third wicket so far.
That's big trouble for West Indies now.

81-4 after 22.2

Re: Super Eights - New Zealand vs West Indies

Gayle is now gone!!, mercy just when i said he & Lara should form a partnership.
81/4 after 22.2 overs

Re: Super Eights - New Zealand vs West Indies

with Gayle gone, Lara now needs to bring some stability to the innings, D. Bravo is now at the crease.
86/4

Re: Super Eights - New Zealand vs West Indies

115/4 after 30 overs
Lara on 21, Bravo on 19

hopefully these two could keep it going

Re: Super Eights - New Zealand vs West Indies

Bond comes back and gets Bravo with his first delivery!

128-5 after 33.1

Re: Super Eights - New Zealand vs West Indies

Lara is picking up the pace, he's now on 30 runs, looks set to get a big score.
after 33 overs, Windies 128/4.

while writing this Bravo is now out!!
score now 128/5

Looks like they're not going to reach 200 at this rate. Just when you think they are settling down, they lose another wicket.

Re: Super Eights - New Zealand vs West Indies

So Bond now has 2 wickets to his credit. New Zealand is really putting the pressure on.

This must be pretty difficult for the Windies when you take into account they played yesterday, which would have been a rest day for them had it not been for the rain on Tuesday, then having to come back today to play another game. New Zealand on the other hand were well rested and more energized.

Re: Super Eights - New Zealand vs West Indies

Lara gone for 37

West Indies 150-6

Re: Super Eights - New Zealand vs West Indies

I'm still trying to come to grips with the drop of taylor.

This is some strange stuff I'm seeing here

Re: Super Eights - New Zealand vs West Indies

kiwis are a better side with in form players. oram and styris are clicking with bat and ball. they have a well balanced side to reach the last four. i dont think the loss of vincent will cost much.

on the other hand the caribbeans had a not so good first round, beaten by the aussies thoroughly yesterday. they have to work really hard to get through to the semis. most of their front liners are out of form and the bowling side is also not experienced enough.

Re: Super Eights - New Zealand vs West Indies

This is not good for the Windies, certainly in dire straights, they are in jeopardy of getting dismissed for less than 200 runs.

Re: Super Eights - New Zealand vs West Indies

Ramdin gone after looking dangerous for a bit

158-7 after 41.3

So far Simmons has scored 4 from 19 balls.
You really have to wonder why he was brought in to the side at the expense of either Taylor or Bradshaw.
