Senior Division 2012-13

Reports on the CMCA forum that McKinnon have lost Stacy Brown to one of the synthetic mob. Apparently he did entire pre season with McKinnon then has decided to leave on the eve of the 1st match. If true, must rank as one of the more ordinary efforts to be seen in this comp.
Yeh correct.. and he felt that with a young family he was unable to commit the time to the standards at training we are looking to create...

TOOB - is one of them Benny Howell the current Gloucestershire county pro, that has spent 6 or so seasons in Melbourne playing Premier cricket for Camberwell and Essendon? If so, could anyone tell me why he isnt listed as a clearance on the VTCA site? Looks like theyve just created a new player ID for him?

Yes thats him. He is listed on the clearance sheet. And the other pom I think is Jordan Clarke? Hits a heavy ball.

Hes listed as a permit, not a clearance. He played at Essendon CC last season, surely they would have had to get a clearance for him and link him in My Cricket? You cant just create a new player out of scratch, because hes coming back to a different club?

so 9/253 one week and then 15/189 the following week, if they did get the covers down they obviously didnt prepare it very well before putting the covers down!!!!!!

Very convenient indeed!! So the council can prepare a road 1 week, then (with covers down apparently) prepare a green top seaming wicket. Rubbish!

They did get them down, so your hearing shit
If they did go down, I would like to know when? Nah, in fact I couldnt really care if they did or didnt. I am sure most who play in this comp know which sides will do the right thing, and those who will play "home ground advantage". I may be hearing shit, as I am getting on, but that then means a Sth Caulfield player who drives past the ground every day is in need of an eye specialist?

Drives past the ground everyday?
Have you ever played at a game at Bentleigh Reserve? You can't really see the table when you fly by on Centre Road, so he must drive up Bolinda Street everyday? Yeah right.

Council definately prepares the wicket at Bentleigh Reserve, so there you go.
I can't remember, but perhaps the weather was nicer leading up to week one of the game, allowing it to be a better wicket.
Or maybe Bentleigh batted and bowled better, allowing them to score more runs than YCCC. Nahhhh, must have cheated.

Does that same Sth Caulfield player remember their effort last year when half the wicket got so accidently wet in a game when they were 8 for 40 and play couldn't start?

Also whilst we are being positive how is a bloke who is in the top 20 batters in premier cricket and played multiple years only 9 pts? Surely in the spirit of what the VTCA are trying to do and probably the rules he's a 10. Be a lot of cricketers playing winter cricket next year.

Haha have I ever played at Bentleigh?? Yes I have. In fact we have encountered "local showers" there years ago when batting the 2nd week. Yet not 2 km away at McKinnon, they were presented with an absolute road. Hmmm....

As for the Sth Caulfield player making his comment, not sure why he even mentioned it??

As for a council prepared wicket, I dont think anyone would question a council curator about the wicket, more the clubs responsibility to get covers down in time. I may be wrong here, but I am pretty sure that the covers are a clubs responsibility, not the council curator??

Anyhow, time to move on.

Thoughts on the Kooka's after the first game???

In support of a fellow Veteran who knows what he is talking about....in the "olden days"...before covers that is...Senior Division/Senior A theory simple.....win the toss at following grounds BAT first, if conditions were any good.

Local showers were prevalent in Week 2 at Bentleigh, Hampton & South Caufield. Always dry out North, though at times St Bernards had a lot of run off, down the slope!!

TABLE A – First 1
st XI Game or New to VTCA in 2012/13
Points

A

Premier 1
st XI - played more than four (4) 1st XI games in the immediate past Premier Season.
10

Benny Howell played 15 Premier 1st XI matches for Essendon in 2011/12, so if it is the same player they are playing him
a) without a clearance and
b) with reduced player points (should be 10)

What sort of penalties would SC be looking at for this breach?

It may be the VTCA's paperwork. As he has an English passport and has just played the last county season, he may have been judged to be 9 pts. As i'm from SCCC i'll have the club look into the paperwork today, in case its an oversight on our behalf. If i get clarification I'll report back so everyone is clear on Howell spts and situation

If he was 10 pts last week we would still have been under the pts cap.
But until the matter is cleared up one way or the other we've decided to pull Howelly from todays game until we can ratify / clarify his clearance / pts etc....
