Subbies Thread

Weapo has been very quiet lately. Heard from a good source yesterday he has taken over as Sunshine's coach from a disillusioned Rex Bennett. If Weapons is not already aware, he will find a club that is in almost constant turmoil, a good deal of it due to the club's treasurer who is universally disliked/despised, and the club's president (who is the treasurer's best mate), by allowing the treasurer to run riot digging up old sores and destabilisiing the club in the process. I am sorry to witness a club of which I am a former player in such disarray. If it was a company, it would now be in the hands of administrators with the task of either winding it up, or attempting to save it from oblivion.
Been reading General Chat in the VTCA's Big Cricket forum(my club is VTCA affiliated). Some interesting comments about CV making another attempt to re-vamp the structure of metropolitan cricket. Anyone know anything about this; is the VSDCA implicated; has anyone sighted the CV document? (I assume there is one).

You sound a bit disgruntled....turmoil pppfffttt.....your just another one of these cowards that troll these forums that can't help themselves and say negative comments which couldn't be more further than the truth....I ask you to put a name to your alias???

I'm under no illusions of what needs to be done .....I'm excited to be given an opportunity to help make a club in which hasn't had much respect from clubs and the competition for a long time into one that will be shown respect and on field won't be just making up the numbers down near the bottom as has been the case in the past.....certain things need to be addressed within the playing group im confident all players will jump on board and for the ones that don't will be shown the door......simple

The way I look at it is that with some tough love and hard work there is only one way the four elevens can go......I'm looking forward to the challenges that await.....

Lets hope you arnt apart of these "old sores" you talk about....are you??...I don't know much about what has happened though what I do know is that how can some people walk around with their head held high after what I'm told went on......

Cheers

Weapo, can I assume from what you have said, you are indeed the coach of Sunshine. If so, good luck.

From afar and only playing once every 3 years, they haven't seemed to be able to improve at all, has relied too much on Stone and Webby. Need to try and pick up some good cricketers (which we all do) however, there are a lot of VTCA clubs in that area which presents a big challenge.

Look forward to hopefully seeing a stronger Sunshine!

You have contradicted yourself by on the one hand stating 'turmoil.... pppfffttt' and, on the other, saying, 'though what I do know is that how can some people walk around with their head held high after what I'm told went on......' .
I have no doubt what you have been told as to what went on is truly shocking and, of course, explains the turmoil. I thought I made it clear my concern is that the manner in which it is being dealt with is destabilising the club, and, I felt that it was in your interests to know this. You will be better served being consultative rather than confrontational.
I too was quite shocked when I curated Dempster Park for the club in 2011/2012 to learn of all the goings on, (and more has since come to light), but, being a life member of the Sunshine United CC, it was/is not my problem. I am also a life member of the former Sunshine Cricket Association of which I was its treasurer for many years. No, I'm not a curator--like everyone else around here it has to be fitted in as a summer season hobby (in concept, the same as umpiring at this level of cricket). I have been around cricket circles all my adult life in Sunshine. I hope I given you enough info to id me.
I wish you well in your new appointment.

Good luck with that job - I hope you go well. As super saint said it is a big task to rebuild and it will take a long time. It would seem the most important respect you need to work on is from within the club. Keep an eye on the big picture ant try to work with the group and not against it

Coach of Sunshine, Who would have thought after Deer Park?

I too, extend my best wishes because this is one big job you've taken on, and you are and will continue to get plenty of advice.

So, here's mine!!!! Make yourself scarce on this site and don't give anybody any ammunition to fire at you and your new club whilst you are trying to rebuild.

Gee wizz.....listen here for someone for as you say it wasn't any of your concern because its not your problem you have a lot to say on the matters of a club you are no longer involved with...let alone you were just a curator at....worst of all you put it out there for all to see to give me the heads up.....please give me a spell.....don't care who you are or where your from and most of all what you have done out of respect to the committee (which have been family friends of mine for 20 plus years so be careful on how you interpret the way the club is run) the ones who told you that you were no longer welcome for reasons I won't share with the big cricket public...... I will hold what I have to say only because it don't involve me nor will it involve what I will be trying to achieve in taking the club fward...though I would be disappointed if a life member from my club had opinions on other clubs behind the scenes goings on because he wanted to have a dig at the people who outed him.....so you can keep your advice for some other dill.....whilst this would be interesting reading for other posters I will not be looking at anymore negative feedback from your good self I'm a bloke who thrives on being positive and i will throw in other key words like attitude and commitment and for anyone who has has some success these are the steps for getting the job done when it counts.....myself on board new players in the pipeline with some good kids in the clubs 6 jnr teams 1mill getting spent on change rooms are all ticks in the plus boxes so enough has been said no more mucking around its time to get down to buisness......

Cheers

Sounds like you'll fit in nicely

Couldn't agree more. It has either not occurred to Weapons, or he doesn't care, that he has given me all the ammo I need to demonstrate to all and sundry what they are getting at Sunshine. Keep on responding Weapo, the more the merrier!
I have not forgiven or forgotten you unmercifully and disrespectfully lambasted Ben Wood on this forum. Now its your turn.

Keep it nice guys. Everyone is entitled to their opinions, however if you feel you cannot respond without getting personal, then best not to at all.

Mark, good luck in your new role. However, I feel there was asome good advice for you earlier, to just concetrate on promoting the club! If you are not interested in the politics, don't comment on them.
You've been outspoken for a long time around here, by taunting the masses you open yourself to ridicule.

In saying that, to all, please keep discussing and promoting clubs and highlighting issues - look slike its going to be one of the biggest and best Subbies seasons on record!

What does everybody think of the free hit/front foot no ball rule for the onedayers that is in for this season? I would be curious to know what the vote split was for this new rule. Surely a run and extra ball is already penalty enough for overstepping in a 45 over game.

I like it, it gives the game a bit of extra excitement! Makes it a bit of a captains nightmare but I think its a good rule change. Some bowlers might really struggle early with the rule but I would suggest they would make the adjustments pretty quickly.

The process for new rule introductions is as follows:

* Clubs given the opportunity to propose
* Rule revision committee given opportunity to propose
* Rule revision committee meet to discuss club generated and own rule revisions. Make recommendations on all rules raised.
* These recommendations are circulated to all clubs for discussion by club boards of management.
* Delegates vote on rules at special rules revision meeting.

The introduction of the front foot no ball / free hit rule was approved unanimously by the clubs.

Personally I like the idea, and think it might add an extra dimension to the one dayers this season. Obviously it is another restriction on bowlers - but they shouldn't be over stepping anyway!

Sensible comments as always B&G. I will not respond to further posts by Weapons on this matter. Now, for those wishing to read Jack Sheehan's response in the south east edition of the Leader to CV's regional competition plan, go to either p20 or 21 of the VTCA's General Chat site on Big cricket where, on a couple of the posts, the very lengthy http for the article is provided.

You can tell people what you like.....

Just goes to show what type of bloke you are and got dealt the cards you did....ammo.....ben wood cmon man.....i have thought very carefully about my responses in respect to you, you knew you would get a response and obviously you dont like them end of the day the only thing i care about is seeing results on the the track which will in turn mean results where it counts....others who have done so accordingly I respect and take on board......nuff said

Looking forward the club is in a great position off field on field there are 4 new players that have come on board that will play in the higher 11's of the club and also talking to a sponsor that may lead (not confirmed)to a Victorian contracted player to be our guest player for the 20/20's everything positive with our theme being "no excuses"

Cheers

Probably should have spent the 1mil in security surrounding the change rooms.

In all seriousness, I don't think your ones were that bad last year. They had a few blokes who could play.. and one or two who had a bit of ticker.. you could definitely turn around that club. Good luck.

Westland Westland, you go around talking shit about other clubs and other people, you say you were treasurer of the Sunshine Cricket Association???? I have one question for you...... where are the SCA now ??? what a job you must have done as treasurer hahaha the SCA are no longer.

Can we all also assume that you will be a playing coach? If so, which grade do you think you will select yourself in? Still think you are 1st XI standard?
