Money Shield 2013/2014

To keep the chat on topic - Here is my two cents on the games this week:

Eltham 244 v Lalor - Runs on the board are always worth more. Lalor are one of the form teams at the moment and will be hard to beat. Being at home and a finals like game, I would have to pick my boys to get the job done (Lets be honest, i am not going to tip against them).

Camrea 3/36 v Greensborough 210. Pretty surprised to see Greensborough not bat the day out against Camrea. A couple of good bats already out, with their best bat to come. They need to have someone stand up other than Ranatunga. Ill have borough winning by 45 runs.

Bundoora United 6/371 v Lower Plenty. Surely you can't lose from there? But then again, surely they couldn't let Banyule get close last game? Can Kelsey make it 3 in a row? He has to, as does Rapp, for them to get the points. Bundoora United easily here.

South Morang v Heidelberg 247, Bar not get Cashen out (127*) they had a pretty good day with the other 10 batsmen only getting 97 runs. Having 23 extras is not good enough and may potentially hurt them in the chase. I would still have my hard earned on Heidelberg to do the job reasonably easily.

Banyule v Hurstbridge 243, Although they made a massive score last game, they didn't get the points and it would be shattering for them, and i don't think they will come back from that loss. It was also the only time Banyule has got over 200 for the season. That to me says that this score is too big for them to chase.

NEW 7/206 v Monty This is a throw of a coin game. 206 is a pretty good score, and gives the bowlers something to aim at. I have monty just infront purely on experience.

Good Summation, i'm tipping Lalor in a close one, BU, Heidelberg, Hursty, Monty & Burra.

Also about time the self proclaimed "Premier Bowler" stood up and ripped through Camrea...;)

So Cyclone Dylan is going to rip through Queensland, while another Cyclone Dylan is preparing to rip through Camrea.

Look out Money Shield, the "Premier Bowler" is back and firing after his hiatus, or so I've been told...

Two points:

Stars, BU, Heidelberg, Hurstbridge and Mont sounds spot on. Of the selections though I can only see Banyule maybe being the one to cause the upset against Hurstbridge, or Eltham if the Stars have a bad day with the bat.

And,

I can't believe someone would come on BigCricket and talk about themselves to be honest, how embarrassing.

Cyclone dylan couldnt rip through a wet paper bag, he just serves up slow half volleys, short balls or full tosses

Huge round of results. Going in to the round, out of the top 4, only Eltham looked like the side up against it, yet were the only side to win.
A very weird game of cricket today with Lower never threatening, actually content with batting out the overs.
Massive game now this week, with Heidelberg v Eltham.
And can Morang now avoid what looked to be certain relegation a few weeks back. Huge game against Mont in the last round.

lower eltham turning into a bigger disgrace year after year. Jet getting a free ride because of his little brother protecting him. or maybe he threatened to fight more people down there? L.Poyser also tainted with the untouchable brush. now they are dropping donaldson to e grade to win to qualify for finals. Very mill park like.

Hey Jase, curious as to how this comment is working out for you...those two blokes you've mentioned put on 90 as Lower passed Diamo at Diamo this weekend...justified their spots for another week, it would seem.

Strange score line the bundoora united lower plenty match. Doesn't look like they had a crack?

From all reports LP didn't. I don't understand why you wouldn't try to win a game, any game no matter the time of year. Score was 0/114 or so at tea so we were thinking they were going to have a crack after because you won't get many better grounds to have a dip at a large score on. I spose you might make the argument that LP are out of finals contention, but if they had won, they would only be 12 points behind 4th with 2 games to go.

Surely you'd not die wondering, I wouldn't have and cricket is a strange game as we all know and you have to keep yourself in contention for as long as possible. Hell, we in the 2nds looked out of it for all money, got written off by some of our supporters but in the last session took 8/48 to win by 5 runs.

Looked to be a clear directive from the coach that they were content with batting out time.
Batted well, but did not attack, therefore give chances, gave us a chance to work on some things with the bowling group.
Not sure that it is teaching the young kids the right attitude, from all reports, they batted the same way against Eltham earlier in the season, never going for the chase.
If the batting is the strength, then surely you stop putting the opposition in!!

Agree, a massive round of results.

Eltham pulling off a great win after not being given much chance against Lalor Stars. Boro slip up, it had to happen sooner or later but they are still on top and along with Stars are the red hot favorites for the flag.

South Morang shoing some fight against a very disappointing Heidelberg that now have their season on the line this week in the match of the round vs Eltham.

Final 4 IMO will be:

Greensborough
Lalor Stars
Bundoora United
Eltham

Relegation:

Whichever side between South Morang and Banyule that finishes with the worst percentage.

looks like i inspired them to warrant there spot in the side for the first time this year instead of little brother looking after big brother. You should be thanking me.

Strange... each to their own. Would have thought it would be a good chance at 0/whatever after 30 overs to try and get to maybe 130-140 at tea then have a crack. If you make 300+ you can say it was a really good chase. In the end they still lost easily and never gave it a shake. Top effort by the young kid opening though.

True, he batted well and rode his luck. Was a great day to bat though (at all ground - great scores made) and he didn't have to face our opening bowler at all, and only a short spell from our other quick, who was then brought back on and got him out in the nervous 90's.
As I said, was a strange day, at times it was a practice sessions with not much angst, but he did well.

Great win by Eltham on the weekend. Probably only need to win one of the next two, if they beat Heidelberg next week (and I think they should) then they're in.

Looks like we are set for a scorcher on Saturday with temperatures tipped to hit 40 in Melbourne. With 35 for Thursday,36 for Friday,40 for Saturday and 38 Sunday would it be appropriate of the DVCA to make an early call, say at 11:30 on Saturday morning, about cancelling the days play as they did for black Saturday and having all games as 1 dayers next week.Makes sense to me,interested what others think considering the fight for finals spots and relegation is very tight.

Does make sense, although Black Saturday was 40 at 10am.
Probably won't hit 38 till around 3pm this week, so I'm with you, one dayers next week so we get results, otherwise we play 30 or 40 overs this week and the round will become void most likely.

Yeah my thoughts exactly.Much prefer to see a result from a game than a team just batting out time, like lower plenty did last week!
